Only ten minutes walking to the main square and on a very quiet location. 
We had a ground floor room in the garden which  was very spacious and clean. 
The communal kitchen is well equipped and you can get free drinking water here all day. 
In the nice garde you can sit and relax. 
Next door is a very nice bar/restaurant with sometimes live music. 


Quiet location 

This small hotel is very affordable, clean, with friendly, helpful English speaking staff. Ac, WiFi, hot water, bed comfort, cleanliness, all get ticked. Rooms are small and simple. Communal kitchen is well equipped. Small garden is pretty and tranquil. About five blocks from centre. Ground floor rooms are good for disabled access, but only have internal windows. Upper floor rooms for choice.

Excellent value, clean, good location

I am somewhat mystified as to why for a place that's been open for several years, there is only one recent Tripadvisor review.  Something to do with the fact that for most of the time I was the only person staying there---not quite sure why that was either.  It's a relaxed, peaceful place and Mario is a considerate and helpful host, speaking excellent English.  My upstairs room was clean and the garden was comfortable despite a few no-see-ems (the Selva Maya repellent didn't work very well and it's better to use Jungle Formula or Off!)  Mario does not live on site so once you're checked in, you look after yourself, and that includes use of the kitchen and free coffee there.  The surrounding area looks a bit dodgy at night but I didn't have any trouble and I liked its lived-in appearance; it reminded me of certain parts of Buenos Aires or Havana (to be expected, since Merida is nearer Havana than Mexico City).

Whatever you do, don't get locked out!  I forgot to take the house keys out with me and having left my phone indoors, had at least had the sense to have Mario's number written down.  A man who worked at the nearby bar (El Cardenal) saw my plight and contacted Mario on his phone.  For which I had to go into the bar and try their excellent porter!

At Mario's in Merida

We stayed at the hotel for 3 Nights and ordered a private budgetroom but we were very positiv surprised! Big room, own bath and toilet and Big soft bed. We were the only ones on the first floor so we had the kitchen all to ourself. We also cooked in the kitchen downstairs where there are free water and coffee. 

Wifi Works good both in public spaces and in the room. And good location, only 5-10 minutes from main square. 

There is No reception but the owner, Mario is really Nice and Will help you the Best he Can!
