Can't understand the previous reviews as our experience could not have been more different.  The owner was waiting on the doorstep at the appointed time to let us in.  Owners gave us recommendations of things to do and restaurants to visit (which we tried and were excellent).  The house is very well placed with plenty to see and do nearby.  I can imagine the house would be chilly in the wintertime (and the towels did feel a little damp) but we would certainly recommend staying here in spring/summer.

Wonderful place to stay.

We arrived from a very long flight from Australia to be greeted by no one there to meet us.We finally rang the owner and he gave us a code to get into the property. Upon entry we were overwhelmed by the smell of mould. We then went into our bedrooms which were not clean and the linen on the beds quite frankly looked dirty. Then on to the Bathroom where do we flush the toilet oh that was  a hole in the wall. We were shown a washing  machine on the original photos and also a barbeque which was not in residence on the terrace. We thought we would have a home cooked meal the cutlery was dirty it was sporting someones egg from the guests before us. I don't think the property was checked. Oh the terrace could've been lovely but was full of dead plants. Also we were supposed to have a view of the Port and that didn't happen. Really I could go on and on however the total disregard this owner had for his guests is appalling on numerous occasions we had tried to have a meeting with him but he declined always.

Are you kidding me!!!

We had numerous issues trying to get an access code to this house despite having paid in full . It’s a bit desperate when you are phoning Owners Direct to see if they can help contact the host as you are sat in a departure lounge in a UK airport. The host let us in when we arrived offering no explanation as to why he hadn’t contacted us. 

Eagle Street was under full renovation so at 7-30am every morning -the builders arrived and started using pneumatic  machines to drill out floors in the building next door to No 6.  It was dusty , the narrow street littered with debris and litter which was unpleasant.

The towels in our rooms on arrival were damp so our first showers were quite uncomfortable . We hung them over the bannisters to dry. 

The kitchen looked fab - but things like only 3 teaspoons, 5 mismatched mugs, lack of dishwasher tablets etc - made us think that the property was not thoroughly checked upon our arrival . 

The bathrooms were generally clean but the tiled floors were grubby. Showers were pleasingly hot.

Bedrooms were very cold and 2 heaters provided warmed them slightly. The shared spaces- hallway bathrooms and kitchen remained icy . 

The lack of warm living/seating areas made for an unsociable holiday house as we all clamoured around heaters to stave off impending frostbite in our bedrooms.  Probably a great house for summer but rubbish in February when it’s 15 degrees outside.

None of the electrical equipment including TVs had any literature as to how they worked - which was a real pain. 

Host left an iPad and travel guide for us to use- but offered no local info. Didn’t seem to want to engage on any level despite what previous reviews say.

Looking at the new prices- I don’t feel the property is worth that amount and certainly wouldn’t stay there again in spite of the beautiful staircases and some lovely art work on the walls
