Sun Siyam Olhuveli Resort

We would thoroughly recommend the Siyam Olhuveli Resort… My wife, adult daughter and I visited the Maldives for the first time in May 2025. From the moment we arrived at Male Airport for the boat transfer direct to the resort, and the warmest of welcomes from staff on the jetty, to them waving us goodbye on departure (again from the jetty) this holiday exceeded all expectations. Everything in-between our arrival and departure was nothing short of excellent. The rooms were very comfortable - Sunset Beach Pavilions. They are well designed, recently refurbished and overlooking a long pool and beautiful beach - fabulous. A great nights’ sleep in the super comfy bed, modern room facilities, plenty of storage, coffee pod machine, kettle and mini bar stocked with a range of drinks, every day. As for the resort itself, it was spotless and clearly very well managed. Getting around was easy, either on foot or using the regular shuttle bus service. All the staff were so nice and genuinely very helpful. We would like to mention these people in particular, who went above and beyond to make our stay special:- Azey was our host and always on hand to answer questions. The time he took to overview and explain the resort when we arrived was very impressive and much appreciated. Duminda at the Lagoon bar was so friendly and welcoming. He spent time chatting to us, explaining more about the resort, the Maldives in general and his native Sri Lanka. A credit to the resort and wider company. Pritika at the Crust and Flame restaurant was so nice to us. She has a truly natural way with customers, is exceptionally helpful and efficient, and always smiling! A pleasure to meet. Abdullah looked after us at the Sunset buffet restaurant each day. He was helpful, always so polite and offered just the right amount of conversation and interest in our holiday. Ankit at the Lagoon bar regularly served us and was very pleasant. He was helpful and polite every time we went there. Everyone else that served us made us very welcome - thank you very much to each. The dining options were excellent. Firstly the Dine Around all inclusive option worked really well for the three of us. The buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner offered something for everyone, including Maldivian dishes which we’d never tried before. Every taste was catered for; we were impressed with how much fresh fruit and vegetables were available at all dining times. We utilised the Dine Around options at the Crust and Flame, Island Pizza, Culinariam and Siyam Orchid Thai restaurant. All the food was top notch - loved it. Definitely freshly prepared and very tasty. The drinks choices, non- alcoholic and alcoholic, were excellent, and we appreciated the cold filtered water served with every meal. Great opportunity too to try a new cocktail! Water sport options were great, including kayaking and snorkelling. There was much more to do, but we ran out of time. Unfortunately due to rough seas, the dolphin excursion we had booked was cancelled, so there’s a good reason to come back! The beaches were truly special. Lovely soft white sand, palm trees, warm clear seawater, beautiful bright and vivid colours. There were modern loungers provided and good quality solid sun shades, making you want to stay for as long as possible to enjoy the natural surroundings. We saw baby sharks, sting rays, hermit crabs, many tropical fish and the star of the show - a manta ray! On our 35th wedding anniversary, our friendly room attendant prepared a special anniversary message cut from fresh leaves on our bed - really kind and professionally done. Plus we were left a delicious chocolate cake and bottle of fizz. Thanks to the staff for arranging this, it made our day all the more special. All in all this was one of the most memorable holidays we’ve ever had. The difference was that all the on resort and off resort staff went out of their way to make us feel special and very welcome. Thank you to everyone that we met. We’ll always look back with great memories of this holiday, and would love to visit again. We wish all staff members the very best for the future.
