Shell Breeze Inn

I stayed in Shell Breeze Inn for few weeks for business trip and I can recommend this place for everybody who looking for very nice accommodation with good price. Hotel also has very good location. Few steps from shops with food, restaurants and coffee shops and also few steps from beach and also Bus Station is very close. We were very happy there.

the location and the friendly staffs will give us feeling more comfortable. the hotel is brand new and very cleaned hotel. rooms are nice and big 43 inches LCD TV gives looks more nice. bath room is very big compare to other hulhumale hotels. they provided us free tea and coffee in our whole stay. Entire the hotel is free WIFI

Amazing Stay with Amazing Price

landed at 1am in the Maldives. The hotel website gave Male as the address, so we took a ferry to Male- The taxi man drove for about one hour and discovered -after many phone calls and with help from a hotel - that the Inn was in Hulumale!'. So we had to take another ferry back to the airport. Information desk at Airport was very helpful, and contacted  Shell breeze for us- they came after about 1/2 hour. so by the time we checked in it was 4am.
Next day the Resort(our destination) people(maldivians) came to pick us up and they also had the same problem of locating - they had looked around Male' for 1 1/2 hours before realizing that the Inn was in Hulumale'. So it was not only us tourists who made the same mistake.

The guest house itself - clean, budget accomodation. Extra bed was a rip off . the room charge was only US45/- ; the extra "bed" cost US$35- onlyu to find that the "bed" they gave was really a mattress on the floor - our son had to sleep on the floor after paying US$ 35!!

food - Breakfast was packed - toast, and eggs in a box- obviously cooked elswhere and brought; so was cold by the time we ate

We travelled around Sri Lanka for 3 weeks and ended with a week in The Maldives.  These reviews reflect the whole experience in terms of accommodation costs, VFM, facilities, hosting, location etc across our holiday but also with a nod to other accommodation worldwide.
We booked this on Booking.com and before travelling the communications from Abdul, the manager, were very good.  We arrived at the airport and there was no one available to transfer us to the hotel.  We were wandering around and Laura from another company approached us and made a couple of calls on our behalf and eventually our taxi turned up.  We were not impressed at all and when we got to the accommodation, there was no one there and the door was locked.  The guy who eventually turned up, obviously did not speak much English and just didn't understand us.  We were shown to room 301, which is on the second floor.  The room was clean, there was a balcony without any furniture and which was very dusty and dirty.  There was a huge TV but it was not working.  Bathroom was large, towels were good and bed comfy.  There was a/c and a fan.  Room overlooked the road so a little noisy.  We were not impressed with the start but Abdul turned up and took us to a local cafe for drinks.  He apologised for not being at the airport and gave us his private mobile no.  He explained that he was waiting for TV company to connect to cable.  He also confirmed he would hold a case for us, whilst we visited one of the Atol hotels.  We had booked another nights accommodation with him, prior to flying out of The Maldives.  Breakfast was available in the adjoining breakfast room, but we had an early start, so did not have.  
The good = beds, hot water, location 10 mins by bus from airport and ferry port.  Near to shops and a good restaurant on the same street, the one with the BBQ outside.  
The bad  = Abdul needs to ensure he is available or someone who speaks English (for us) is and needs to ensure transfers etc are arranged.  
The missing - again, facilities are not as described on B.com where it clearly says there is a pool and TV, toiletries etc.  These just are not there or working yet.
Cost was not cheap but then the Maldives aren't.
We did return and the second stay was better for us, but our expectations were lower.

Some good, bad and others just not there!

I had confirmed a pickup from the hotel but when I arrived at the Male airport in the late afternoon there was nobody there to pick me up. I tried to call the hotel but unfortunately the telephone number was out of service.  I went to the airport information desk to get a taxi but it is almost impossible to get taxis at the Male airport.  Finally a nice man from a different hotel was able to find a cell-phone number that worked and contacted a person who knew a person from the hotel.  Around 1 hour later a car arrived to take me to the hotel.  

When I reached the hotel there was a non-English speaking man who let me into the hotel and took me to my room.  Right away I noticed several large ant trails walking across the floor of my hotel room.  I also noticed the wifi did not work.  I asked him if I could change rooms but apparently he was not the real manager and only had the keys to my room and no other rooms in the hotel so I could not move.  After much complaining he called the actual manager of the hotel for me to talk to.  It was only around 4pm, but due to it being Ramadan month the manager said could not stop by until after 8pm.  He talked to the non-English speaking temporary manager and he returned to the room with me with a can of bug spray and sprayed it onto the ants.  Now the floor of my room was covered in bug killer and dead ants.  While in the room I noticed that there was a large window in the bathroom with no shade or curtain that allowed people from the ouside to see into the bathroom.  It was also very noisy as it was located right over a busy main room.

After 8pm the real manager did come over and apologized.  He was not too concerned about the missed airport pickup or ants, but he did agree to move my room due to the public display of the bathroom through the window.

The new room was much better.  But he told me the Wifi was not working.  I think they had not paid their Wifi bill even though it was advertised as having Wifi.  I would never have booked this hotel if I knew there was no Wifi.

The next morning I went downstairs for the breakfast that was supposed to be at 10am.  The hotel does not provide breakfast even though it is advertised as including breakfast.  Instead, the temporary manager took me to a next-door convenience store where I bought an instant noodles and he allowed me to eat it in the hotel lobby.
I left for a day of sight seeing.  When I got back in the evening there had been no cleaning of the room and I had no new towels, toilet paper, soap or shampoo.  I talked to the temporary manager but he had no idea what I was talking about.  

I stayed there for 2 nights and then needed to return to the Airport.  I told the real manager and temporary manager that I needed a 10am ride to the airport.  I even had a confirmation sms from the real manager.  However, when I went down at 9:50am to get my ride I found the temporary manager had no idea about any scheduled ride for me to the airport.  Finally he called and a car arrived at 10:30am to take me to the airport.  I was so happy to escape that place.
