The 5 star review is purely due to the staff I mentioned in reception as they were very helpful and gave us excellent service when we checked in. 
Management, please clean the hotel, it is  nice but it needs good cleaning and maintenance
Our room is nice and spacious but not clean

I had a wonderful stay at Goldsand Hotel Langkawi. The room was incredibly comfortable, complete with a bathtub and perfectly working hot water. The breakfast package offered was absolutely worth the money. The location is very strategic, close to the jetty and only about 30 minutes from the airport.

If you prefer staying in, the room service is excellent and reasonably priced. Overall, the hotel offers great value for money, and I would definitely return in the future.

P/S: Dont miss to visit the night market every Saturday night and try all the delicious food. It's just a 3-minute walk from the hotel

Very peaceful and relexing atmosphere when arriving at this very larger than life hotel in the heart of Langkawi. Spotless, courteous staff, choice of good breakfast and rooftop restaurant. Enjoyed 15% residents discount on meals. Choice of Vegiterian and NonVeg.

We had the biggest room ever, it felt like a suite. Parking outside was very easy and lots of it. Reception was very welcoming and explained everything. We forgot the slip of paper with the date on when we went down for breakfast but they were fine and just requested we bring it later. Breakfast was buffet style and really had everything you could think of to cater for different people.  It was my husbands birthday and they bought a frozen dessert style cake for him at breakfast.  There is a lovely rooftop bar and pool but not great if you’re scared of heights, 

Absolutely loved our stay here. Everything was perfect... the room was lovely, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was superb, with so many options. The rooftop swimming pool is wonderful, with beautiful views of the bay, and the bar is a lovely place to start each evening watching the sun go down. The highlight has been the staff, who have been so very very lovely, kind, friendly and helpful - they really have made our stay a very special one. A real pleasure to recommend the Goldsands...

Absolutely fantastic stay at the Goldsands Hotel.
The hotel is in an excellent location in Kuah (near Eagle Square, the main jetty). While the hotel does excellent food (breakfast is very good, a wide and plentiful selection of Western style and Malaysian food) there is a for court nearby and a night market which runs 2 days a week

The hotel provides all bathroom necessities and the rooms are extremely comfortable - one of the nicest beds I've slept in within a hotel for a long time. There is a stunning view from the rooftop pool and the gym, and you get a voucher for a complimentary 15 minute spa treatment too.

The sky bar is great and offers a limited selection of alcohol (Langkawi's restaurants are generally 'dry', although you can get beer from local shops).

Tea, coffee and water are refreshed daily. The rooms are large and very clean. 

Everything is in easy reach with a car, and for specific tours you can get picked up from the hotel.

The staff are friendly, efficient, welcoming, and as it was my friend's birthday during our stay they even arranged a cake which they presented at breakfast and sang happy birthday.

If you're feeling fit there is a fab jogging Park nearby which offers beautiful views of the jetty especially during a 7.30am run!

We would definitely recommend and return, thank you so much, Goldsands! 


My colleague and I came to Langkawi for a business trip. We originally stayed at another hotel, but have subsequently decided to move here for the next few days.

We were both surprised and happy that our room has got a free upgrade from Superior Twin to Family Room. That’s ordinarily a good point. 

The room generally matches what you would expect from a high 4 star hotel, except on 2 items:-

(1) the hot shower doesn’t seem to be functioning. Complain was made to the concierge and was told that it’s “normal” and we were instructed to turn on the hot water at the bathtub and let it flow for some 5 minutes, then we’ll get some “warm” water. Without venturing into the issue of wastage of water, the “warm water” that was supposed to flow was at best, “cool”. 

(2) for no reason, there’s no one to clean up the room after 1st nice of stay. For avoidance of doubt, we did not put on the “do not disturb” instruction. 

Perhaps, the said issues may be caused by the overcrowding of the hotel. However, that’s hardly a good reason to excuse the matter. 

A note on buffet breakfast - not much choices offered and the flavour was nothing big to shout about. 

Price of hotel was slightly on the steeper end during our stay in December. Granted, that might be contributed by the year-end holiday season. 

That being said, I would be happy and willing to revisit Goldsands again.

Reasonably Good Hotel for Business Trip

My goodness, how much wasted potential there is here. 

I followed directions in the hotel brochure to the pool, where I was told pool towels would be available. I asked three different members of staff in the pool area and each one shrugged, telling me none were here and my only choice was to visit the front desk all the way on the ground floor. 

There's not a single parasol or umbrella in the pool area. There are no cushions on the loungers, nor does anyone offer to procure one for you. 

The room is very spacious and the newly refurbished bathroom is a very nice touch. 

However the very prominent stains on the carpet and sofa are incredibly off-putting. 

If you want a comfortable bed as a base for your Langkawi trip, this hotel will tick the boxes. If you want anything more than that, I wouldn't advise staying here.

However, bedroom carpet and toilet not clean. Toilet floor has so many stains.
 Location in Kuah, close to ferry terminal and shops
30mins drive to Cenang
Need to drive out to go to beach, they dont have private beach.
They have rooftop with great view tho.

Stay 2 nights here. The room is spacious. Got bathtub in the toilet. Bed is comfortable for me to sleep. The LCD tv is huge but the one in my room not functioning. Haven't had the chance to try the breakfast as the hotel not in full operation yet. Rooftop bar is nice and can see the best sunset view from here. The food during my function are superb
