The most amazing sunsets imaginable!! Makes for special pictures. Food and cocktails were good as well. Very friendly staff.

We booked a specific unit on the water but this was given to other people which leaves a bit of a sour taste, same thing happened to another couple we've spoken to.

Must admit it is nconvenient not having toilet or basin or shower in room, but we knew this in advance.

Amazing sunsets!!

Lakana is a marvellous place, one of a kind! Made my stay in Saint Marie memorable and special. 

The hotel Owner and Manager (Rova) are very welcoming and helpful. They helped organise a hiking expedition (with experienced Tour Guide Martial - highly recommend!) to spot chameleons and other notable flora and fauna, as well as diving trips. The hotel grounds are extremely well looked after, with thoughtful notices informing about the specific plants that grow there. The dining experience is exceptional - homemade mouthwatering dishes. Not to mention the creative cocktails! 

The bungalow (on water) is very comfortable, and I slept extremely well. Having travelled to 75+ countries, it means a lot for me to leave such a positive review, so I hope more lucky visitors get to enjoy the beauty of Lakana! 

Lakana is a marvellous place!

Perfect location on Sainte Marie, a quiet cove with shallow and calm water perfect for wading in.  The staff is primarily French speaking (we are not) but we felt well cared for by everyone we interacted with.  The food and drinks were delicious with lots of variety, we had fun playing ping pong and reading from their large selection of books, and the staff helped us book a whale watching tour with researchers Cetamada (an absolute must-do!)  Perfect for a tranquil, relaxing stay.

Serene beachside stay in Sainte Marie

We stayed there only 1 night, but we would definitelly stay even a week there. Everything great including sea bungalows  The hotel features great restaurant with local and eastern dishes. Check our pics.

Just great stay

Lakana offered us a great moment of pleasure and relax. People who received us was very keen and sympathy. We passed the end of year 2018 with them and their family, which was a great experience. Sleeping on the house on the sea was, waouhhh, need to be experimented by every one. We recommend

Lakana was a beautiful place to stay whilst on this idillic island.

We had (IMO) the best bungalow at the end of the jetty/pier which had a beautiful interior and a comfy bed.

The food was tasty and the menu was always changing.

The grounds were well kept and the ping pong table was a lovely touch (we like ping pong).

The staff however made this place, they were friendly, professional and caring about us as guests.

Would I go back? If teleportation existed I think I would take up residence!

What more could you want!

this place very nice! they are huge resort, have a lot of bangalows! rooms are clean and cozy:) one thing is not very nice that they dont have 24/7 reception table so its problem theb you come in the middle of the night🙈😄 food are nice here but small portions. so! 
also they have wonderful view in the restaurant and perfect view on the bridge :)

Isle the S. Marie was our fist stop in Madagascar and Lakana Hotel was perfect to recover from the journey and to organize the best stay on the islandExcellent staff, so helpful and friendly! 
The staff is very friendly and the kitchen is excellent. The garden is a beautiful presentation of the local trees and flowers and the turtles where a pleasant surprise. The hotel is perfectly located with abreathtaking seaview.
You can choise between 3 kind of cottage on the see (but the bathroom is privat but on the beach), on the beach, or on the road. All are very good for the price.
We've enjoyed our stay in the Lakana Hotel.
Note that they organize Whales whatch tour with CetaMada that is a a very good agency and it is involved on the program to save and protect this beautiful gigants
