You will need to go there early to avoid the crowd. Before you go in they will give you a shoes locker. 

After that you will need to line up for the entry. Once you enter, you will head to the changing room.

Most of the thing inside you will need to pay except for the public bath. Foods, drinks and games you will need to pay. Fish spa and rock spa you will need to pay per hour. 

Not worth to go

Maybe it was due to the late-December weather, maybe it was due to it being 2 days before New Year's, maybe it was due to the nearby Comiket closing for the day, but whatever the case may be, the entrance queue was about 70 minutes long (yes, over an hour), so try to plan accordingly. Also, try and avoid bringing large baggage, as the lockers are shoe lockers, and an additional, small baggage locker inside.

Once inside, though, the place was worth the wait, in my opinion. With various flyers and maps available near the storage lockers inside, both in Japanese, and in English, helping visitors to both understand proper etiquette, as well as provide good explanation on the facilities available.

With each visitor getting wristband with a barcode, there isn't a near to take physical cash or credit cards; simply go to the counter, get the barcode scanned, and pay only at the check-out.

The place offers several different types of hot bath, from an outdoor foot onsen, to a traditional, indoor large onsen. There are also various massages available, such as hot rocks, or foot massage, although I didn't take those massage courses in my last visit, maybe I'll do so in my next one.

The place also features a quite varied food court, with Japanese-, Thai-, western-style foods, as well as desserts stalls. In addition, there are carnival-like stalls, like bow & arrow, throwing hoops, and the likes.

Finally, there are buses that leave the establishment to various points across Tokyo, including to the Odaiba station, Tokyo Station, Shinagawa, and more, free of charge.

In summary, one should expect a long wait at the entrance, but once inside, the place is well-worth the wait.

Visiting a few days prior to New Year's (onsen-only review)

Been there twice where we get to enjoy onsen, foods, games, rest & Japanese massage under 1 roof.
Though it seems to be crowded with tourist but i couldn't resist & will sure going back again if i travel to Japan in future.

Great place for family outing.

After you paid the entry fee, you got to pick the traditional Japaness bathing clothes to wear. We enjoyed prolonged effect of warmth even after we got out of the bath, we were very relaxed inside and out. There is a big common bath, foot bath and  many different baths inside, the temperature is much higher than Switzerland one. It's very difference as everyone nake and walking around  lady area (besides, the common area, the rest were  separated  from  female  and male areas). If you can not accept this, this is not where you should come. I  recommand the body scrab treatment which removed the all the dead skin and helped blood circulation. I love it much. 
Tip:it's not a high class kind of sauna, if you can't bath with other, don't come. As the bathing area is also public(male and female are separated). 


A fun Onsen day

This is special I can say. You will never find a spring in Tokyo like this one. This is not only about spring but some special experience in Japan.
When you step into the spring city, they will issue you a band with barcode on it. You need this band for every spending. You only need to pay when you leave. I think this is a nice arrangement and you won’t need to bring cash or card into the city. 
You can find a few game booths after the changing room. There are also lots of food stand selling ice-cream, hot disk and even alcohol. The indoor area is well decorated and you will feel like joining special event in the festival. 
The spring is also worth a credit. This spring is the traditional one and you need to be naked. The spring area divided into 2 parts, the indoor and the outdoor side. I didn’t go to the outdoor one as the date I visit only has 5 degree Celsius. But you would love the indoor one as it still has over 5 types of spring available.

A theme park of spring

The hot springs was very good, there were nice and hot baths. I loved all the traditional games, food and the kneeling tables. The foot bath outside with rocks hurt quite a bit, but all was OK. All the costumes were very fun.

Hot Springtastic

Join Tokyoites at Ooedo Onsen for an authentic and relaxing day out. If you don’t speak Japanese, don’t worry as the signage is in both English and Japanese. I’m not going to detail the procedures as other reviewers have already done so. Just read the numerous signs, watch what the locals are doing and you’ll be fine.

It shuts for a couple hours in the morning so go in the afternoon or evening.

We went over the New Year period and there were virtually no other foreigners there so we felt like locals! The baths are segregated and everything you could possibly need is provided - such as yukata, soap, shampoo and conditioner, hairbrushes (which you put in a basket to be disinfected before reuse so don’t worry), towels, hairdryers and so on. This is all free (well, included in the entry cost).

There are lots of things to do except bathe. In the enormous Edo style hall (very well heated) you can buy souvenirs, play old time games, eat, drink, rest on reclining chairs and watch TV. Plenty of good photo opportunities. There is even a hotel and a capsule hotel. You wear a wristband which they scan and you pay at the end, credit cards are accepted.

I am coeliac and was worried about finding gluten free food. While there was not an abundance, I was able to eat some of the sushi, rice, edamame and yakitori without the sauce (ask for ‘yakitori tare nashi’). All were delicious. 

I highly recommend Ooedo Onsen for a non-touristy and relaxing day out!

An authentic day out

I had a long layover at Tokyo Narita airport, which as it happens, it a good ways out from Tokyo. Having found this onsen on Trip Advisor, I decided I would max out my nine hours and check out this famous "family amusement attraction". Really glad I did. 

You can read a lot on Trip Advisor about the experience itself - all very helpful and insightful, but I thought I would list a few things that struck me about this particularly visit to this particular onsen.

- It IS a bit difficult to get to. I took the Keisei Skyliner Express from the airport to Nippori, changed to the green line metro to Shimbashi, then to the privatized Yurikamome line that drops you right across from the spa. Since I bought a 24 hour pass for the Keisei airport express and Tokyo subway. I thought the last leg would be included as now. It was not. Not a big deal - you just have to buy a another ticket at the automated machine.
- I had sort of figured out the three locker system and where to take off which articles of clothing at which stage at a previous visit to an onsen in Osaka. This one had much better English signage, however, which I have to say is significantly anxiety reducing. 
- The baths were great. Several different ones at different temperatures, indoor and out, and while gender segregated, it was clearly a family day. Children of either gender can accompany their parent to either side until they reach a certain height, which seems to be congruent with about 9 years of age. Sort of blows a hole in that "nudity is damaging to children thing," but that's another story for my blog.
- I'm working on a corresponding blog post about the whole experience, but just a bit of advice - if you try the sit-down shower with the various luxurious soaps and shampoos, try NOT to do what I did and slip off your little wooden stool while writhing around naked on the floor trying to get back on your feet. Awkward. :)
- This particular spot had A LOT of activities that were essentially an indoor carnival for a family day out, (All back in our robes now) and lots of eatery options as well. Despite a 100% language barrier with the waitstaff, the menus were also in English, and I loved my octopus dumplings. I did, however, buy a lottery ticket! LOL

It's a great place that will give you a good feel for the whole onsen experience. The staff was very helpful and the signage frequent and informative (in English!) If you've been dying to try this, this would be an excellent first place to do so.

Second Visit to an Onsen... but not my last

This mega onsen theme park is loads of fun for the whole family. Upon checking in, they give you Yukata to wear while inside the property. Other than baths, they have a huge food court made to look like a Edo period town. There is a hotel connected but you don't need to stay to enjoy the onsen park.

The location is quite out of the way, travelling from Ikebukuro to Odaiba.  The place itself was alright.  The bath was huge and gave you an idea of how Japanese public bathhouse is. There is an outdoor bath area as well which is not in your average bathhouse.  Also, you would change your cloth to Yukata before you enter the inner area.

The food court, the shops and the fairground games added to the experience.  I only tried one ramen dish and it was slightly above average. If I would visit this place again I will choose something else.  There is a garden area with stone pool and foot spa (paid).  

There is a lounge area with lazyboy style sofa with attached TV, for when you need a quiet time.  

There are free shuttle services to three locations, which is a plus for me.  

All in all, I enjoyed my time there.  I even stayed longer than I intended.  But The location is quite far from my hotel.
