This is my second time staying at OEH. The first time was 2 yrs ago. Both times were good. Great people are running the place and great people come to live and/or volunteer here There`s a very nice atmosphere. It can be very social at times but also, one can always find a quiet spot to focus on personal projects. The kitchen has everything including plenty of cupboard and fridge space. There are 3 showers-there`s never a problem with having to wait or hot water.. The rooms have a comfortable bed or bunk beds and a desk, as well as good storage/cupboard space. The house is cleaned daily except on Saturday and Sunday. There are 3 coin operated washing machines and 2 dryers. The walk up the hill with heavy luggage can be a challenge but it`s uphill only for about 7 min of the walk from Hirakatashi Station. I enjoyed some nice walks around here and recommend the plum tree grove near the main shrine. Enjoy!
