What can I say but wow absolutely stunning ... one of the most picturesque place I've stayed at.
Lovely obliging couple who couldn't do more for us if you asked.   We were leaving very early on our departure day and we given warm BLT's to take with us.  Do yourself a favour and have breakfast there every morning...great way to start the day. Every morning was different and delicious.
Rooms are exactly as pictured ... small but cosy.  Bathroom is small but works fine for a family off 4.
Free bus to happo right across road and 47's down street.
7-eleven about a 5min walk in snow conditions...
Would love to go back.

Outstanding 

The lodge is quaint and is situated in a pretty little area in Hakuba with other lodges, with some cute shops and a lot of restaurants all around. Very near Hakuba Happo One Ski Resort, accessible via a shuttle that has a stop right in front of the lodge.

The room was just as nice as I expected from the photos, and I was suprised that the lodge had a room that was quite spacious and good enough for our group of six. Very cozy and warm during the winter time.

The owners' hospitality was what really made our stay here topnotch. They speak little English so it would probably be a bit more difficult for non-Japanese speakers, but they are willing to help in any way they can. 

The husband (?) even drove us out the nearby rental place for snowboards and gear, and we were allowed to leave it at the lodge after to be picked up by the shop staff.

We only stayed for one night but would no doubt recommend it to anyone who needs a good base to stay at in Hakuba, be it for the slopes or for some sightseeing!

Cozy and convenient!

I’d like to preface this review with a comment about the owners. Airmail is owned by a lovely Japanese couple who will go above and beyond to ensure your stay is enjoyable. They don’t speak English well, but will do everything they can to try to understand (they used google translate which was helpful).

The rooms are cosy and clean, but the beds are quite small (I’m 6 foot 1 and my feet were hanging over the edge of the bed) and the pillows were quite uncomfortable. We didn’t address this with them.

The rooms come with heaters, but the smell of gas is quite strong - I recommend keeping the bathroom door open with the fan running.

The bathroom was small but manageable for a couple. The shower wasn’t quite powerful enough but it got the job done. Nice hot water.

I recommend getting the breakfast in the morning. They cook it themselves and serve it well. The food was delicious and filling - great for prior to snowboarding or skiing.

There is a bus stop right outside, which will take you straight to any mountain you wish to snowboard or ski. Make sure you are well versed in the shuttle bus routes though - the bus stop is called Misarano Cultured or Hotel Cultured. They also have a secure dry room to store your board and skis and any other wet / damp gear from snowboarding.

Overall, a great stay, the owners were amazing.



Beautiful location, slightly outdated.

We were a family of 3 who recently stayed at this guesthouse. It's more a guesthouse feel rather than hotel. It's managed by grandpa/grandma so it has a cosy, homely feel. 
There are rooms with private bathroom or shared bathroom. It's clean. They make you take off your shoes in the dry/wet room before entering the guesthouse premise. They give you house slippers to wear in-place of your shoes. 

Our stay came with breakfast. It's always the same - scrambled eggs, 1 sausage or 1 bacon, salad and fresh buns. Also juice, tea & coffee. Its served between 7.30-8.30am. Sometimes they bring the food when you come into the dining area. Other times, it sits on a plate at your table, waiting for you to come down. So the food may not be warm. Carpe Diem! The serving is just right, not too much, not too little. 

You can buy food from the local Seven 11 down the road and store it in their communal guests' fridge. There is a communal room where you can eat with tea/ coffee provided for free. Lots of people gather in this area in the evening as there is a really nice warm inviting fireplace. 

The rooms are small as expected and are not serviced daily, only on request. 
The private bathroom is small too. The tap at the sink and showers are interchangeable
Room and bathroom is clean. Free in-room WIFI is available, quite fast too. Hot water for showers are available from 6-10pm in the evenings and approx 4 hours in the mornings too from 6am. 

The good points about this guest house are:
1. the free shuttle bus to Habuka ski slopes are at the front (opposite Cultured Hotel) 
2. complimentary drop off upon check out to basecamp

Its a short walk to the Seven 11 down the road & a great taiwanese restaurant (Meteor Restaurant). It's a bit longer to basecamp. 

The stay is ok, nothing special but its not under-par either! Cosy and cute guesthouse. They provided complimentary taboggans for kids to use. My kid loved it.

Cosy

A very elegant house, well-maintained and comfortable.  However, my welcome left a lot to be desired.  The proprietor behaved as if I was an annoyance to his afternoon's activities and made me feel even more tired and disgruntled.  Not only that, That night he woke me up from a deep sleep to attempt to change my room to a bigger one, which he said I had already paid for.  I told him I was happy where I was, but he wouldn't take "no" for an answer until I yelled at him to leave me alone.  He behaved better after that and, in his defense, there were linguistic problems.  Also, TOO EXPENSIVE.
