Stayed for just one night at this very personal, homely bed and breakfast style accommodation.
It is well located for Furano, and also walking distance to the winery and a great cafe.
The owner, Jimmy, is lovely and he and his wife are great hosts. The food is great- the dinner in particular was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan.

Lovely, homely B&B with great food

We stayed at Pension Ashitaya for the first time in January this year and had no hesitation in staying again in March for the excellent spring skiing at Furano. Jimmy san and his family are perfect hosts and go out of their way to make your stay in their excellent establishment as enjoyable as possible. The food is delicious and I highly recommend having dinner in. The location on the hills just outside town delivers superb views and a chance to see some of the local wildlife. A fox trotted past the windows of the dinning room one evening an a pure white mountain hare turned up the next night. Jimmy drove us to the lifts each day and collected us at whatever time we nominated in the afternoon making stops at the shops or local winery if we liked. This is a great place to stay if you want a genuine experience of some of the language, food, customs and culture of Japan.

A really good place to stay for a ski trip to Furano

Jimmy san and family provide a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the wonderful country side of Furano and experience amazing home cooked meals. Jimmy san’s English is very good and provided heaps of advice on the best place to ski, eat out (although I don’t know why we did that) and things to do in the area. They have a great tradition style hot bath (but private) to relax with after a hard days skiing. Thank you Jimmy san and family for a wonderful experience. 

Wonderful experience and hosts

We stayed 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.  Owner Host Jimmy and his wife are very warm, friendly and helpful.  Jimmy speaks English which is a great help. and he offers us valuable information on how we should plan our travel route around Furano.   We had very good home cooked food.  The shared toilets are very clean.  Highly recommend this place.  Jimmy offers pick up if you do not drive.

A great place to stay with fantastic host

Loved our stay there. A really homey little place and the food in the evening was outstanding. Jimmy was super great and his was very friendly also. Stay there if you can ! You will not be disappointed. We had the Japanese style room

Jimmy san's place is most recommended. He is very friendly and very very helpful. He picked us up from the Jr station when we arrived and sent us off as well. Daily trip to the ski slopes and back were also provided with a smile. He also drove us to the Furano town when we had friends coming over to join us for dinner in town. When we stayed over, we had the most delicious home cooked dinner and at a very affordable price too. We had dinner everyday at their house except for the day our friends came over. The servings were generous. If we wanted the genuine Japan cultural feel and hospitality, we certainly got it in abundance. Oh, and Jimmy san speaks perfect english.
