Great Siena Location

It's 30+ degrees and there is no air conditioning. We have a fan but not a great night sleep. Generally it is very expensive what you get. Location is good,  close to the square and the guy who welcomed us was very friendly. You can check in between 4-7. 

No AC

We were the only guests in the B&B during our one night stay.
It's in a very central location, just off the main street surrounding the piazza del campo (Via di Città). The rooms are very charming, though a bit quaint in decor.
Gianmarco is a very friendly and concerned host. We hadn't foreseen breakfast, because we were considering doing breakfast 'Italian style', in other words, grabbing a coffee and cannole somewhere in a cafe, but Gianmarco generously provided a selection of cakes and cornflakes as well as tea.
As the other rooms were not in use but were open, we took the opportunity to have a look in all of them. Sorry Gianmarco, we just had a peak for future reference!
Good sized rooms, all except one with its own bathroom, good beds, everything clean as a whistle.
Next time we go to Siena, we'll go back to Le Campane!

Charming B&B

My partner and I have just returned from a 3 night stay at Le Campane b&b in Siena. It is in an excellent location, a stones throw away from the main square and other main attractions. We arrived at 2pm on Sunday, the b&b was not signposted and so very difficult to find, we asked in a nearby store and we were directed to a door next to Ristorante Le Campane. We rang the doorbell but there was no response, we called the number on the website several times but no answer. Checking our booking reference, we noticed that check in time was at 4pm, so we went to the restaurant next door to kill some time and have lunch. This was quite annoying as it was very hot and we had just had a long journey from Rome and were ladened down with our luggage and had no where to freshen up. The waiter at the restaurant informed us that the owner of the b&b does this all the time and often guests are left waiting outside for hours. We were not made aware before booking that there was a restriction on check in times. Eventually we were let in and were able to check in to our room. The young guy that let us in was very helpful and friendly, he gave us a map of the area and told us some of the best places to eat and drink during our time in Siena. The room was very basic, no air conditioning, no TV, no hairdryer, just a bed, private bathroom and lots of unnecessary furniture which made the room quite cramped. The accommodation does have free wi-fi. We headed out for our first night, returning around 10.30pm. Tired after a long day we just wanted a good night sleep. This was not possible, we had to leave the windows open as the heat was unbearable, so there was no preventing the noise outside. The restaurant downstairs is busy and the noise travels up to the accommodation. We did not get any sleep all night as there is constant movement outside, bins being collected, tourists making their way through the streets, other guests arriving late at the b&b etc. and then the local shops are back in very early the following morning to set up, so we did not get any rest. The rooms are not cleaned every day, as advertised, we only saw the cleaner once and she did not change the bedding, only made the bed and changed the towels. On check out there are no staff on hand to accept keys, you are expected to leave your keys in the door, which was a very different experience to what we are used to. Whilst the location of this accommodation is great, this is certainly not a b&b and is merely a rental apartment. Although the young man who checked us in was very helpful we did not receive any further service, which made the accommodation very expensive for what it is. Would not stay here again, and would only recommend booking for 1 night if passing through Siena. 

Great Location but very noisy! 

I was travelling with the review below, so although my review is exactly the same I also wanted to mark this place as terrible as it ruined my one night in Siena.
The website for Le Campane sells it as a BnB, but it is clearly an apartment (something that should be on Air BnB) so there is no reception etc. The owner apparently lives 2 hours away so if you're not there by 7pm, tough!  This isn't exactly highlighted when you make the booking, so please be aware.
We were not even contacted by the owner with an apology.
