Fantastic
207 reviewsWe spent 11 nights at Hotel Oberraindlhof in August 2018 and, for us, it was the perfect hotel. Independently owned, family-run, beautiful, clean and where customer service is at the core of everything this lovely hotel offers. The staff really are a huge asset to this hotel. They were unfailingly helpful, welcoming and charming. Hotel Oberraindlhof has been owned by the same family for hundreds of years and their pride in this shows in every small detail and the care that goes into maintaining the rooms, public areas and gardens. We had a very spacious family room with super shower room in the new annex building. The views were spectacular from our little balcony, the beds really comfortable, the hot water unending and there was plenty of storage for all our kit. Our room was cleaned daily and linen changed at least once during our stay. The food on offer was plentiful and delicious with a changing daily menu or a choice of some set dishes for children and the less adventurous. Breakfast was a banquet, tea ditto and dinner with all it's 5 courses (you don't have to have them all) was delicious. We could not fault it. I would recommend, as others have, opting for half-board as there are no other restaurants close by. The staff all spoke English so we could get by and it was refreshing to be surrounded by only German, Swiss and Italian guests. Everyone seemed happy to muddle through in a combination of languages. We had the misfortune of having a medical issue develop during our stay and the staff could not have been more helpful or supportive. So, even in an emergency, the hotel came up trumps. The hotel also has a large 'Wellness/Spa' area with saunas, steam rooms, loungers, complimentary drinks etc. So, whether you're coming back from a hard day's walking or skiing there is the perfect place to wind down. Once a week the hotel offers a day's guided walk with lunch stop at the half way point. It is a great way to explore the valley with a guide who knows it well. Our five year old daughter managed the morning walk of five miles and then we jumped on the valley bus back to the hotel (free with the Summer Card the hotel gives you) whilst the other guests pushed on through the afternoon and walked the full 10 miles back to the hotel. We loved the location of the hotel - half way up the Senales valley, within strolling distance of the bus stop and with direct access to a huge number of walking trails and neighbouring villages, all of which are worth exploring. Merano, with it's mix of shops, boutiques, restaurants, cafes and amazing swimming pool, is a mere 15 minutes drive away. The hotel provides free daily entry to the swimming pool, which our 5 year old daughter adored. There is an Archeo Park in the next village, a climbing/rope park about 15 minutes drive, gondola lifts to take you to the top of mountains, monasteries to explore and utterly breathtaking scenery. The valley is quiet and dark with only the stars and sound of rushing water to fill the nightscape. Bliss! If you are an 'outdoorsy' family or couple who is looking for a down to earth, genuine and honest place to stay and explore this beautiful part of the world from then Oberraindlhof is the hotel for you. If you are looking for gold-plated taps, cocktail bars and a 'buzz' think again. In a nutshell, we would return to this hotel in a heartbeat.
