Villa Robinia Ristorante Pizzeria @ Camping Village Adria Ph 0544 445 669 After 9 months of travelling around Europe we've learnt to avoid very ordinary and extremely overpriced food at restaurants associated with campsites. They tend to exploit a captive audience when the site is a few km from anywhere. After a lifetime working with restaurants and devising their wine lists I write with some experience. But needing to give one more a try [it was a Friday and we'd run out of food until Saturday shopping] we were tempted by an interesting menu. We shared an entree, had a main each and shared a salad. I reckon if you go to a restaurant and experience one WOW dish you should be happy. We had all four tick the WOW box. The gnocchi with cream, pesto and shrimp entree would have kept anyone happy as a main course. The balance of texture between the gnocchi and shrimp was as perfect as the sublime balance of the sauce. A lemon kick here, a herb kick there with the cream holding it together. Absolute perfection with the plate licked clean. The salad "Isla Bonita" was a work of visual perfection. Brilliant idea, perfectly constructed. It will be copied at our family dinners for years to come. The two main courses were various seafood combinations. Both were accompanied by the tastiest aubergine ever. Coatings were either crumbed or in the finest tempura batter you could wish for. I regard Fritto Misto as the Italian equivalent of Thailand's Pad Thai. Basic concept but some do it brilliantly, others demonstrate their inadequacies. I've never eaten better Fritto Misto. Be it prawn, fish, squid or octopus they all retained their distinct individual flavour in the perfect tempura. Service was charming and enhanced the food.. Funnily enough the wine list was non existent but the 9euro a litre jug of white was perfectly acceptable. Chuck in a bottle of water to create a 59 euro bill plus enough leftovers to take back to the pitch and create dinner. Absolute bargain. WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW! That's one each for the dishes and one for everything else. If I lived within 50km this would be my local.
