Langtauferer Hof

My wife's family have been coming to this valley for 30 years (so there were familiar faces) but we'd never been in the summer as our family. And it was SO worth it. Firstly, Langtaufers is a long valley with a single road going along it. If you want massive nightlife, look elsewhere. But if, like us, you want rural peace and quiet, then this is the place. Indeed, their English slogan is "Alpine Silence"! It is a great place from which to start excursions (Graun, Mals, even Merano) and also for hiking tours. The owner and cook, Sepp Thöni, also offers regular hiking trips. There are wellness facilities of a very high quality and all the means for having a perfect holiday in the mountains. The rooms are well appointed and clean and to a high, modern standard. (We had a Bergsuite for the three of us and it was ideal.) There is free wi-fi and information points in reception, providing everything you might need. As to the food - the breakfasts are *huge* and delicious (you could fill up for a whole day). There is coffee and cake in the afternoon (if South Tyrolean portions of breakfast and lunch haven't filled you up yet) and dinner is multiple courses, including a salad buffet. Quality is very high and the service is friendly and excellent. (Note: If you have children who are a bit picky, then just ask in advance and a Schnitzel or Spaghetti or something can be arranged.) All in all, the Langtauferer Hof is excellently run, the rooms are superb, as is the cooking. You will not be disappointed - we have already decided to return!
