We could not recommend this boutique style accommodation, located right in the heart of Cagliari, on Piazza Yenne highly enough. The piazza is a lively nightspot, full of bars and restaurants, BUT the sound-proofing of the windows of the apartments is excellent, and so when closed, we could hear nothing. There are only three rooms and we were so very lucky to be given the Deluxe Suite. (Although having checked out the website – http://www.fcroomscagliari.com, had we been allocated either of the other two rooms, we certainly wouldn’t have complained). The rooms are on the second floor of a beautiful, old Sardinian style house – the stone communal stairs really do give a sense of the history of the building. (If you prefer very modern accommodation, this may not be to your taste, but if you love a sense of history, this is the place for you). There’s no lift, so just be aware if you have lots of luggage or mobility problems. The apartment which houses the three separate rooms, has been designed exquisitely. The decor & furnishings are well thought out – the “communal room” where you check in, is very tasteful and gives an indication as to what your room might be like. The deluxe suite is really astounding, for the price. (Our three night stay worked at approx 60 euros per night – unbelievable value). It is huge, with a beautiful en-suite bathroom, and a very large, very comfortable bed. Again, furniture is just so tasteful and attention to detail is superb. Everything is spotless. And, a very small point, but I can never understand why so many places don’t do this – matching wooden hangers in the wardrobe ;) Internet access is excellent and there is a beautiful writing table if you need to work/email etc. There is a well stocked fridge, with very reasonably priced water/drinks etc. Breakfast is not included, but just outside the front door are some excellent options for eating & drinking, so you wouldn’t be stuck for choice. You would need to know that because the rooms are almost like a private residence, there is no reception area. We were arriving, but were contacted re access arrangements and were met outside by Martine, who if you have the pleasure of meeting, was absolutely delightful. Everything about the FC Rooms, from the initial email communication, to leaving (we had a problem with a hire car & it wasn’t a problem for us to stay a little beyond the normal check out time of 11am) was exemplary. The rooms are so perfectly located for exploring Cagliari old town, which is amazing. This is somewhere we will most definitely be returning to – an absolutely wonderful find in a beautiful city. (The rooms are about 15kms from the airport – we paid approx 20 Euros, late on a Friday evening & were literally dropped off at the door).
