The Dublin Central Hostel

This place was very nice, I liked my room, facilities were good. Everything appropriately clean. The area was nice and felt save, restaurants and supermarket directly nearby or easily accessible. I never used the bus to explore the city! Close to the centre, easy by Foot. (Except for attractions further outside you would need the bus). Free walking tour was really good. Also staff was really helpful. 

We stay in hostel (4 friends) for 3 days with breakfast, private wc, nice temperature in room and all workers are great :) the location is awesome to get bus for and from airport and to discover the city. You have pubs and all other services very very close :) enjoy

Lovely little hostel in a great location. We stayed in room 11 on the top floor, it was clean and good value for money. The staff were very helpful and recommended some good places to eat and drink. Would definitely recommend. 

Overall experience was very good. We stayed here on 3-5 August 2018. The general areas were very clean, the room could have been cleaner. Breakfast was more than what we expected for a free breakfast. They do laundry for you! also clean the dishes! Lauren was very kind, chatty and knowledgeable about Dublin and the attractions with great recommendations on restaurants etc.. would stay again purely on the lovely staff.

This hostel is about a 5-10 minute walk from the top of O’Connell Street (from the Parnell monument). It is central and an easy basis to explore the city on foot. Staff were very friendly and arranged a taxi to take us to the airport at 5am. We had a private room (with bathroom) for 3 people and were impressed by the size and quality of it!

The only downside is the noise at night. Maybe it depends on where your room is but we were on the ground floor looking right out onto the street and could hear people chatting all throughout the night. (I think they were actually in the hostel?) They did not shut up til 4am! But it was a Saturday night and I suppose it is to be expected in a youth hostel.

On the whole though, it is very good value for money! Considerably cheaper for a private room than other hostels nearby. 

I had an amazing sleep after arriving late, and breakfast was great and quick, but when I had lunch, it took a very, very long time to come, and we were thinking about leaving to go to another place instead.

The Dublin Central Hostel also offers private rooms. The dorms are clean and spacious. Breakfast is not the strong point of the hostel, but the towel is included in the price of the room. The radiators were too hot for me, however, if you are from a hot climate this will suit you. Kitchen closes at 10PM, lounge room at 11PM. All in all this is excellent value for money and in a perfect location for a visit to Dublin, with the Botanic Gardens close by as well as Blessington basin the bird sanctuary and lake. A stones throw from O'Connell street and the spire.

We stayed there just one night in a double-bed room, This hostel was very nice and clean. Staff was helpful. The door weren't very soundproof, hence the 4/5. Situation very central but not in Temple Bar so we could sleep properly.

I stayed at this hostel during a recent trip to Dublin. On arrival everything seems fine. Pretty dated but looked fairly well kept. 

We picked up our room key and were told we were staying on the top floor so we headed up to our room to drop off our bags. 

The room was a fairly decent size considering it is a hostel but it was genuinely the hottest room I've ever stayed in. Now I've stayed in Turkey when it was 40+ degrees and this wasn't a patch on our hostel room in Dublin, which is evident by the sweat/condensation stains on the walls!

Given that the rooms don't have air con and it was that hot in there that it was hard to breathe, I headed down to reception to ask for a fan, only to be told that they don't have any. This isn't great considering the window in the room kept sliding back down after opening and would only remain open an inch or two. I barely slept that night given the heat so didn't feel amazing the next day. 

I thought I'd cheer myself up with some breakfast so I headed down to their "semi-continental" offering which was pretty dull. Toast and jam or cereal with warm milk were the options. 

On our second day there, someone had vomited on the landing and the smell took over the entire hostel and lasted for the duration of our trip, which, as you can imagine with the heat, was horrendous. 

The other gripe was that, although advertised as having laundry facilities including a washing machine and iron, we were told that they didn't have an iron or ironing board as they had been stolen weeks ago, meaning I had to pay the lovely lady at the launderette a couple of doors down to iron everything I'd taken with me.

The only good thing about this place is the location. It's pretty easy to walk most places within half an hour so it's good to get around. The other plus is that there's a really good vegan fish and chip shop on the corner called Vish Shop. If this wasn't the case, it would've been a 1* review. 

I'd definitely avoid if possible!

The hottest place I've ever stayed. And not in a good way!

On check in to a private room we were given one key amongst 4!! This was such a pain as we were not always together. The room made me feel like I was living back in world war one it was beyond outdated. The sheets had blood on them. The room didn't even have a bin the light in the bathroom would encourage an epilictic fit. The shower was crap too. If you're desperately looking for a place to stay, cancel your plans and don't consider this place please. Also a rip off for what we got, never again
