Been to this place twice the first time wasn't great but must say the second stay I couldnt fault it. This time had decent room abit small but it was ok for 2 of us. Reception staff friendly and offer any help on what to see in Dublin and directions I will defo be back again thankyou this time :) 

Much better than last time 

Terrible hotel, in fact its not a hotel, combines  a mixture of social housing people and tourists. The room was tiny no ventilation, you had to put the kettle on the floor to boil, only the main light in the ceiling, no bedside cabinets, nowhere to put your luggage,  horrible grotty shower. The fire alarm would sound often due to family's who live there doing their cooking. Absolute rip off, the photos they show are obviously not from Hazelbrook lodge. And it was not cheap either. Do not waste your money booking there.

Dublin city is brilliant

Staff cares more about their bottom line than their customers. Charged me 3 times, and only 2 were authorized. Refuse to refund. Dated facilities. Bathrooms aren’t cleaned often enough for how many people share them.

Pay extra elsewhere. It will be worth it.

If I could give this -5 I would. Booked through booking.com. I planned to stay for two nights as I had training in the city. During my training I get a text from booking.com saying they had a problem with the booking and cancelled. I rang hazel brook lodge and got through to the most ignorant women I have ever spoke to. Very rude and obnoxious. Clearly abusive and had no remorse or apologies for leaving me stranded with no accommodation and to top it off she denied taking the money out of my account even though I had a paypal and bank statement to prove it. She shouted so much and eventually hung up on me. Completely unprofessional. Would not advice anyone to stay here or be ripped off and abused by the staff and left without accommodation on the day of their trip. It’s unbelievable

Terrible

Staff nice but the room had no windows or ventilation and was 8'x10' with nowhere to put your luggage down and layout. I will never go back.there were no night stands  black spots on the ceiling in the bathroom, lots of paint peeling off  the walls.

Europe  holidays

The room was small and basic with shared facilities.  I was surprise there was no hand basin in the room, as most basic rooms have at least this.   The bed, however, was very comfy and I had a very good night sleep.  The breakfast at 5 Euros was reasonably priced - even though the cook does not seem to know how to make porridge (it was very runny), and the waitress was mortified when I put salt on my porridge. The accommodation is bang in the centre of Dublin and the airport bus stops almost outside the front door.

Basic accommodation

Hazelbrook Lodge was the most expensive hotel on our trip through Ireland - and the worst of all. Our room in the B building: the most ugly I have ever slept in: an occulted window on a side street with no light and just a small skylight. A small open wardrobe but no table and no seat. Needless to say that there is no space at all. The carpeting is worn, the tiles in the small bathroom are cracked. The "walls" of the room are not insulated and you could easily participate in any conversation of your neighbours.
You have to leave the key at the reception, even at night. When you come back, you have to ring a bell, which means that you have to wait between 5 and 10 minutes before someone shows up (generally from the basement) to open the door.
Breakfast was not included, and having had to pay for our parking at the hotel, we decided that enough was enough; so we went out to the city to find something decent. 
The service is ok, though. The bedsheets are clean and towels are replaced every day. And then, there is the location at about 10 min. from O'Connell Street.

Not to be recommended

I stayed there three nights with my wife. The room of the first night was in the B building: terrible. Extremely small (I guess 40cm around the bed on all sides), no wardrobe, a window facing the corridor where the lights are always on and, since the building is wooden, very noisy whenever anyone was passing. Sleepless night.
We asked to be moved and were changed to a room at 4th floor, facing the road. Better, room was bigger, still wooden building but the noise came especially from the window, very old and therefore not insulating (both cold and noise). Nearly sleepless night.
Summarizing: hostel level but just a little cheaper than other hotels.
Only pros: breakfast is decent and not pricy.

Avoid

Tiny room beside smoking area, smell of tobacco smoke all night. No windows, just about able to open tiny skylight.TV wasn't working and when I reported this I was told "yes yes yes everybody's complaining, it's a problem with the digital provider. It might be fixed today", it wasn't. Only positive is City Centre location. Awful value at almost €90 a night room only. Avoid!

Terrible two night stay

Booked this last minute tje night before, the room was good for the low price of 30 euros. Rooms are small but are clean and comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful. Was value for money and good for anyone wanting budget accommodation for a short break
