Pure Villa Bali by Nagisa Bali

Stayed with my husband, step-daughter and friends over Christmas and New Year. My summary would be "style over substance". It's a very contemporary style 6 bedroom villa, run as a mini hotel with food but not alcohol included. My issues were two fold. One, while the staff were lovely, they were poorly trained and not sufficiently attentive for what were 5 star prices (we needed to go and ask for drinks, had to manhandle the umbrellas to give us shade - I know that makes me sound extremely princessy but bottom line is we've had far better service elsewhere). My second issue was that the building itself was tired and in need of TLC: some examples - the two fans in the main dining room didn't work which made for an uncomfortable dining experience at times; the awnings on the verandah roof were dirty and stained; the deck needed power washing; the lights in our bathroom worked intermittently and leaked when it rained heavily, which, being a tropical climate, was daily; the parasols by the pool didn't angle meaning you could only sit by the pool for a fraction of the day if you didn't want to burn to a crisp. In summary, for the money, we expected more. While we loved Canggu, we'll be going elsewhere next time
