This “3-star” hotel does not accept international cards. For some reason, only Indian cards are accepted here. Apparently, they expect foreigners to pay them thousands in cash. Also, their Wi-Fi in the room doesn't work. It just connects, and that's it. To make things worse, their dining restaurant and other parts of the hotel don't have any wi-fi whatsoever. There is nothing commendable about their staff behavior as well, especially the reception staff.

Overall a good stay , spacious rooms with Lake View (do opt in for those). Never saw such big rooms throughout my whole kashmir trip. Even Interiors are Decent & pleasing to eyes.
The restaurant is the Best out of those options on Dal lake road,they have majority guests coming for Meals.Service is good. Remember it is not a hotel but a lodge so remember not to take breakfast option with your meal if you stay here as limited option (egg,toast,milk,tea only is there in same ). Nearby are decent options for breakfast here you can have it even in early morning. Will strongly recommend to stay here.

Overall Excellent Property & Awesome Food

Actually  this  place is  famous as a restaurant  serving great  kashmiri Wazwaan (Feast). It was perpetually crowded.. which says  a lot  about its  food , service, quality  and  popularity.
Adding rooms  at the Shamyana seems like an afterthought.  Rooms are  a  bit  quaint with  vintage  ambiance. .Plenty of wood work  reminiscent of  70's trends  in interiors & furnishings.  But  spacious,, cozy  and  comfortable. Views of the Dal lake 
 opposite the hotel are rather  DULL.   Cluttered up houseboats  and   noisy  traffic on the  boulevard road  is'nt  exactly  a  wonderful idea  for fa  serene  vacation.
   Washroom was a tad small but all the  gadgets and  equipment  functioned  precisely In-house  menu  was  over priced  and  kind of  snooty. 
.Lack of a  in-house  phone  is  irritating .

Room -service is  slow  and  tardy..probably  because  the  management  focuses primarily on the  restaurant  business. So house  - guests  are  routinely  cold  shouldered and  not  much  pleasure  or  hospitality  was on   display,.  The  snooty reception  should  be  revamped  immediately.  A  very cut  and  dried  place  actually .
 Book only  if  you want  to be on a main  road  and  have  no other  option.

Food for thought

Me.idar sher is having very pleasing personality. His service is excellent highly appreciable. Tourist will definitely will like him because of his good behaviour. We are very happy Mr idar sher and your hotel in our three visits in Kashmir. We will come again. Your hotel is excellent.

Visit to Shamyana Hotel

I visited the restaurant for lunch on the recommendation of a friend. The location is just adjacent to the Dal lake on the boulevard road. The food they offered was great in taste tried their Shamyana special which was very nice. They also have a decent menu for vegetarians too. 3 types of seating areas are available on the ground floor we chose the middle one which was closed and not so crowded. The only thing I felt was their reluctance to accept credit cards. Rest all was fine.

Must visit atleast once for a meal

Place for stay is good and excellent food.but they lack in communication to outside world as tourist would like WiFi.
Hope they get it sorted.asap
They have only guess 5 rooms but the 3 we took were well suited for couples and family . It's well placed near Dal lake at ghate no. 2. 'Khalid' specially the owner also was very helpful
Over all good place .excellent food but would require WiFi connection. Was there from Sep 21 to 24.
Would certainly come again.

this place is really awesome. delicious food with good ambience... will refer my friends for sure!! this was our first time that we have visited Kashmir and this place has added much more fun to our trip... Mr. Iqbal Mir has a good knowledge about food... he explained us everything about kashmiri cuisine...
