This guest house is ran by a wonderful family in a great location! We even decided to come back to new moon as it was so wonderful! The rooms are clean and beautiful and I would recommend anyone going to Leh to stay here! It is the perfect accommodation, which provide towels, WIFI and food!

Ignore the bad reviews, this is a great place to stay!

Best place to stay in India!

As most people do when booking accommodation they are a bit unsure what to expect when arriving, but with New Moon we managed to find an absolute gem only 5-mins walk down hill to the main market. We had a room with a balcony which was very light and spacious and stunning views. We arrived from airport early morning and were able to have early check in and rest straight away. The owners were very kind to us and even let us leave some of our luggage whilst we went away on a 3 day tour, and of course we stayed again when we returned from our tour as it was so good. We didn’t have any issue with noise during our stay (having come from Delhi a couple of infrequent car passes is nothing!). All in all we were pleased to have chosen to stay New Moon.

A gem only 5-mins from Leh market

We stayed here for around three weeks and although we stayed in other places in Leh this was our favourite and very good value for money. We stayed in the new building and rooms were spacious, clean, bright, airy with personal balcony with great view.

This is a family run business and they were all very helpful and friendly, still allowing us lots of space. They have a great vegetable garden and vegetables are picked freshly to prepare delicious dinners, food is the best fresh healthy food we ate in Leh. 

We left bags here when trekking and it was no problem, the owner also organised taxis for us very efficiently. A perfect distance from the main bizarre and a much more pleasant  road than Chugspa.

Beautiful peaceful space in to stay in Ladakh

It’s surprising to see some negative reviews on this place- I’m assuming it’s improved in the past year as it truly is a lovely place to stay. The owners are father and son and are both so lovely. They are really friendly and helpful when you need it, but also not intrusive and just let you get on with your day. 
We ate here one night and the food was delicious and cheap! 
Definitely don’t hesitate to book this place. The rooms are really nice and comfortable and it’s really affordable.

Lovely relaxed family guest house

We stayed there 3 nights and had dinner once (chili chicken and veg noodles). The staff was extremely nice, friendly and flexible in accommodating our plan changes. Talking with the owner was also quite instructive about the changes occurred in the Ladakhi society in the last decades as a consequence of the increased tourist flow.
I'm rather surprised to read negative reviews about the staff as our impression was completely positive about them!

Quiet place with very friendly staff and good food

Near the market, 5 minutes walking only, the host provided even a hot water bottle against the cold! For ever grateful.  Conditions tough, with the electricity cut for hours and the internet non existent at this border region, in New Moon it was bearable.

Under difficult conditions... helpful and polite.

The rooms upstairs are nice and cozy, the bedding clean. The staff was helpful and friendly, the wi-fi connection good. Sometimes the road in front can be quite noisy. It is 10-15 minutes walk from the city center, which can be tiring the first couple of days at 3,500 metres.
