We had 3 nights here: huge bedrooms in an old Dutch house. Very clean and air conditioned - a relief in the March heat.  Excellent location within walking distance of the Chinese fishing nets. Good breakfast included. Markose, the host, is a mine of information and very helpful - felt like home. Peter, the tuk tuk driver we used from the Bungalow, is also very knowledgeable and helped us get around to all the sites. One of the friendliest places we stayed on our Kerala trip.

Home from home in Cochin

Totally wonderful stay at Ballard Bungalow. It is a beautiful old Dutch Colonial building. Absolutely perfect location .The owner Marcus is charming, helpful , very knowledgeable and all the activities and transport he arranged for us was efficient and the right price. Glorious large heritage type rooms. Good Wi Fi, Air Con, Hot Water, Breakfast. The double rooms have huge beds that can be split to make singles if required. Just great value for money and "location location" . Would not hesitate to book again or recommend to friends.

Perfect Stay

A walk in historic Fort Kochi left us at the gate of Ballard Heritage Bungalow. We wandered in, met Markose, the easy-going on the surface but hard working behind the scenes manager. Each of the rooms is distinctly historical, well-maintained, extremely spacious, and clean with high quality bedding. I really appreciated the distinctive heritage feel, not gentrified, but fully intact. Markose was friendly, always available to share his ample knowledge of Fort Kochi and makes great coffee to boot.  Genuine colonial chaise lounges offer a relaxing view of the courtyard. This place is a real hidden gem.

A truly authentic heritage experience

Discovered this Boutique style Hotel through a friend, so glad I did, having stayed in other properties in Fort Kochi that were very average and a rip off.

Ballard is a fantastic location in the town, yet calm/peaceful with beautiful Keralan styled rooms.

The best hospitality experience is Markose the owner, a really genuine, caring person and always smiling! He arranged trips, driver and recommendations about the area to ensure had the best holiday! I noted his drivers were efficient and quality, they were not extortionate prices like other hotels. Stunning food and atmospheric nights-Enjoyed our chats and laughs, always a positive vibe here.

This is the top notch place to stay in Fort Kochi , its a wonderful holiday experience and excellent value  for money, it has everything especially if it's your first time in Fort Kochi. Well Done! I will be back soon

Best Hotel in Fort Kochi

I had an honestly super holiday at Fort Kochi and a fantastic experience staying at the Ballard Bungalow. The rooms reminded me of  an old British tea estate owners Bungalow bedroom  Huge and ..well air  conditioned   clean and spacious bathrooms and changing rooms,The best home cooked food I  have ever had in Fort Kochi after my late mother in laws  home made food i  Kochi, The tender loving care of the Manager Markose, Super special chef  Satheesh and Girly the house keeper was fantastic .The hotel is well located  and the value for money is the best. My wife and I have decided that the Ballard Bungalow in Fort Kochi is going to be our second home  Thank you Markose..Balaji and Girly for making our stay so special;

This historical building close to shopping, restaurants, a bar, tourism information and ferry services is our more efficient and well maintained version of The Marigold Hotel. Owner/Manager Marcus runs a well serviced hotel with great breakfasts and friendly staff. The decor is from a luxurious bygone era. We loved the large rooms and high ceilings. Thank you.

The Very Special Ballard Bungalow

Huge period rooms with beautiful features . Great home cooked food  and great service from Markose and the cook Sateesh and Girly . Nothing was too much trouble for them. All staff friendly and helpful .  Well located and fantastic value . Clean A/C rooms Will definitely return.

Spectacular Heritage Hotel with great personal service

Just the perfect location for exploring Fort Kochi. Short stroll to Chinese Fishing Nets and shopping at Princess Street and various markets.
Rooms are very large and hark back to Fort Kochi's colonial past, clean, great beds and air con.
Breakfast is a wonderful experience with traditional fare available to order and lots of fruit and chai...
The Manager runs a top show here and even provided space for our group to do yoga each morning...
We could have asked for no more!

This is THE PLACE

Just close to the Fort Kochi beach, its a old Dutch-style heritage homestay with 6-7 spacious rooms with wooden flooring & infrastructure - accessibility of Boat ferry from this Bungalow makes it feasible for rides to Ernakkulam and other nearby islands, though there is no 24/7 kitchen - there are enough food joints in & around the location serving sumptuous sea food and drinks. Only breakfast is served as part of the bookings, a simple home made Dosas or Appams. The manager Mr.Markose is very courteous and helpful, he helped us have a entertaining houseboat ride in Kumarakkom. It's a place for those who prefer to be away from the lavish hotels and resorts, certainly needs some uplift on the facilities like DTH connections, better Wifi connectivity and some more food options - but these facilities would have kept us inside the room rather than exploring the Gods own country.

A peaceful stay at the shores of Fort Kochi beach

Booked to stay here for 2 nights. Phoned the premises 20 minutes away from the hotel to check we were booked in, which we were. Arriving to check in the hotel was fully booked. 2 young indian girls were in the same situation as us and were turned away. The manager was an ignorant, rude creature who didnt care that he turned these young girls away, and cared even less that he turned us away. He just said no rooms, shrugged his sholders and slouched away. I did visit the toilet which was disgusting and the communal washing machine full of clothes and dirty water. We then phoned a friend in Kovalam who sent us to rosssitta wood castle hotel. Read my review. This place is a joke a should be shut down. Avoid at all costs
