My partner and I rented an apartment here in early July 2016. The apartments are situated at the end of Kionia Beach near the Tinos Beach Hotel. At first glance it seemed a bit uninspiring but that quickly changed. This was due to the owner Matteus who was a very charming and generous host. The apartment was well equipped with a separate bathroom and kitchen and a television. Whilst this is by no means the Ritz for Greece this is a good standard of accommodation , especially considering the price. Any seasoned traveller here who has had general UK package holiday accommodation will appreciate that privately rented rooms ate general cheaper and much better equipped. In any case it is the people who make any holiday and Matteus and the staff in the attached Taverna could not be faulted . Kionia is easily reached by bus from Tinos but in all honesty once encamped you could walk to Tinos Town in fifteen minutes very easily. During this trip I hired a car and travelled extensively around this absolutely beautiful island . Beaches are consistently good and many feature very gentle sandy inclines into the water. Panormos in the west even has a little lagoon with ducks , swans and terrapins and a couple of nice sheltered beaches. In the same way Kolimbithra is the north is great for a swim and something to eat. There are 42 villages on the island as well as monasteries and churches , many of which you can visit. There is also an absolutely fascinating ex convent school that used to be connected with France and is rather like a time capsule. It is well worth visiting . Tinos town features the most sacred Orthodxo religious site in Greece and you will literally witness pilgrims crawling to the cathedral on a carpet at the side of the road at any given time. Nightlife is fairly restrained , although there are some bars in Tinos Town. I could go on , but really it is worth a visit yourself. Watch out for the wind which can be pretty fierce ( I like it because it keeps wasps etc at bay ). One thing I meant to add is that you can do an excellent couple of bus tours from Tinos Town Opposite the bus station. A lady called Tonia ( a teacher ) does them with her husband , she is very informative and charming and they are very good value for money.
