From the first moment we arrived at Pyrgos Adrachti, our host Thanasis and his family treated us like old friends. They were warm and friendly, and spent time chatting with us whenever we passed through the lobby or came down for breakfast.  We truly felt like welcome guest in their home, rather than customers at a hotel. The property is a new building but with a historic feeling, ideally situated immediately below the rocks of Meteora in the quiet village of Kastraki.  It is tastefully decorated throughout, and offers a delicious assortment of breakfast items.  Coffee is available all day in the lobby, which is comfortable and inviting.  Thanasis provided us with a map and advice on which monasteries to visit, and where to go to view the indescribable sunsets over the rocks.  The hotel is located conveniently to several good tavernas and we walked to them for our meals other than breakfast.  Thanasis' wife was charming, as were their teenage children.  The Vioutis family is the epitome of Greek hospitality.  Pyrgos Adracti is a must stay for visiting Meteora.

Great Place to Stay in Meteora

Lovely family run place.  We visited towards the end of the season.  The room was looking into the rocks and the view was amazing.  The husband wife team that owns and runs this hotel is very friendly and helpful.  Answers all your questions.  Made some excellent recommendations too.

Great Hotel to stay in Meteora

This hotel is in the perfect location. We stayed for two nights and we had a great experience. It is close to the iconic mountains, allowing for a fantastic view of them; also, there is a small forest behind the hotel, making the views even more beautiful. The staff is very friendly and it will help you with any needs and questions you might have. Our room was in the front of the hotel with a view of the village and a bit of the Mountains. I will suggest asking for a room in the back with a view of the iconic mountains if you decide to stay here (which I strongly recommend). We had breakfast on the back terrace and overstay, admiring the spectacular view and enjoying bird singing. This hotel is a great choice for staying in the Meteora area.

Best Place To Stay In Meteora

Everything about our room was perfect! Great view, great bed, quiet, great amenities. Location was amazing! The rocks were right off our balcony and we could hike from the hotel to several monasteries snd also walk into the village to winderful tavernas! I looked at other hotels in the area and none were even close to as good for views, quiet and comfort!

What a gorgeous location! We didn't have a room with a balcony, but that didn't matter. We found a table on the breakfast balcony and had the whole space to ourselves. Purchase a bottle of wine from the owners or bring your own and spend the evening watching shadows fall across the rock formations. 

You won't believe the view

This is a fabulous place from which to explore the Meteora rock formations and monasteries. For starters, Kastraki’s small-town (almost village-like) charm make it a more enjoyable location vis-à-vis Kalambaka, its larger, more congested neighbor. Pyrgos Adrachti is literally nestled at the base of the rock formations, with tall pillars looming over the property’s backyard and offering stunning in-your-face vistas from all of the guest rooms. The breakfast is ample and satisfying. When I checked in the host provided a map of Meteora, showed me hiking trails to explore in the region, and offered some dining tips. My three-night, two-day stay was a great experience.

If you are here to see the amazing landscape and the incredible monastaery buildings, this hotel puts you right at the heart of this magical terrain! It feels like a luxury, private treehouse  in the forest, with the amazing rock formations towering overhead, and hardly a sign of any other human habitation. You could be in India, Sri Lanka, Burma, or Thailand! Storks sore overhead, while wild tortoises wander below.  Our room with balcony on the second floor was tastefully furnished with rustic dark wood, a huge comfy bed, and screen door, with no need for the air conditioning provided as the temperature was perfect, and insects could not get in! Breakfast on the terrace with this amazing view was gorgeous, our hosts could not have been more informative and helpful, and the village of Kastraki with its peaceful atmosphere and handful of decent tavernas, made a much more palatable option than noisy, busy Kalambaka. A magical place of tranquility and beauty. See the monasteries.....then come back to your room and just drink in the majesty of these amazing ancient rock formations from the privacy of your balcony.

Peace and exquisite, breathtaking beauty

Small hotel (14 rooms) but very nice rooms and lovely people. The only negative is access includes some very narrow roads. It’s worth it! When you arrive and settle in on the back patio with the majestic mountains that make Meteora famous feel close enough to touch… absolutely heaven! Great value also!  Meteora trail is just next to the hotel for ambitious hikers.

On the doorstep of nature’s efforts to show off and there’s parking

Pyrgos Adrachti is a relatively small, family-run hotel in Kastraki, just a few minutes’ drive from Kalambaka but in its own and much more picturesque setting. The cliffs of Meteora are all around you — especially from the rear-facing rooms at this hotel that offer memorable views.

I tried to reserve directly with the hotel back in February, but two emails were not returned, so I did so through booking.com. Not my preferred way of doing things, but it worked out fine.

The host provided us an area map upon arrival and marked some recommended sights and restaurants. The explanation process seemed somewhat rushed, but it must be said the recommendations were spot-on.

You should know that the “ground floor” Meteora view rooms are actually on floor -1, and you might find the atmosphere slightly damp upon entry, but the heating/air unit takes care of that in relatively quick fashion. I would recommend a balcony room instead, but make no mistake, the amazing views are exactly as advertised from any level.

Breakfast was adequate, but not the equal of most places we stayed in Greece. Of particular note, the scrambled eggs did not remain hot on either of our two mornings there.

While I have some noted some negatives, I want to be clear that  we are very glad we stayed here. The hotel is a remarkable value, well-run and beautifully situated with a couple of excellent places to eat not far away. We would absolutely choose to stay here should we visit Meteora again.

A remarkable value; great location, great views

Amazing hosts, amazing accommodation and the very best views and location in Kastraki.

Host built the house in 2006 for purpose and has thought or everything including guests who roll in at 13:30 and need to see some of the Monasteries before they start to close at 4:30. Immediate directions and recommendations, for dinner too. Check out Gardinia behind the church, a start walk for great food.

The driveway is steep, cliff edge and single track, put it in gear and go for it, keeping in mind the uphill traffic has the right of way.
