Kastro Oia Houses

We booked two nights in Kastro houses during our Greek islands hopping adventure and we couldn’t have done better. The room was located right across the famous sunset ruin and has one of the most iconic doors of Oia. Very instagrammable! The courtyard is overlooking Ammoudi bay and breakfast was served there. It was the best breakfast ever -baked omelettes, crème caramel, croissants, cheese and sausage, fresh orange juice etc. The cave style room is quite spacious with an original bathroom that used to be a water reservoir in the past, with traditional furnishings and it was very clean. Perfect spot in Oia, the most picturesque Santorini village.

Mike and his mom - Emelia impressed us with impeccable service and hospitality during our stay. The bedrooms, living room and Kitchen are nicely done and well stocked. Wines and fruits were complementary and we savoured the wines while watching the sunset from the Terrace. The traditional Greek breakfast with varieties gave us a good start for the day. The location is definitely one of the best in Oiya.

First off, the location cannot be beat. Whereas others had to line up on the steps outside, we were able to take in the majestic view of the caldera from our balconies. Beyond this, everything about our stay was terrific. We had great communication after we booked the property, and the owners and manager were very responsive. Once we arrived, checkin was a breeze, and the excellent Kastro Oia House staff helped with our luggage, which is no easy feat given the winding path that’s required to reach the property. Michael, the manager, kindly checked in on us periodically, suggesting tours, which we would have taken advantage of if our kids were a bit older. The room came equipped with a jacuzzi (which we did take advantage of) and was well stocked with L’Occitane products and plenty of towels and robes. Not that we used them, but there were TVs in each room. There was also a washing machine, which was very helpful. 

The excellent staff made sure the rooms were clean and that we started each day with a great breakfast. In this respect, I would specifically like to thank Rehman, Shakir, and - most of all - Mohsin for their terrific service and assistance. We have traveled to numerous countries and have had the good fortune to stay at a number of excellent properties. But the service we received at the Kastro Oia House from these three gentleman was exceptional. If you are traveling to Santorini, I highly recommend staying in Oia. And if you’re staying in Oia, I highly recommend staying at the Oia House.

What an absolutely wonderful time we experienced here at Kastro Oia houses! We couldn’t have had a more contrary experience to those few that posted the negative reviews. First of all, I apologize for forgetting names, but the family that owns this hotel is so kind and hospitable. Any questions we had or requests were answered and met graciously. We traveled in a group of 8, all young adults, family and friends and rented the villa and two other suites. The accommodation and decor was clean, well appointed, comfortable and we absolutely loved our hot tubs. The breakfast was also lovely and served to our balconies each morning.  Additionally, the view from the rooms is a good as it gets in Oia. Absolutely breathtaking. It was a special experience being able to comfortably enjoy the sunset from our balconies while other gather in the streets to try and watch as the rooms are located in an ideal spot for sunset viewing. Additionally, the price is great considering the location. We have family in Greece and travel to Greece each year and visit different islands each time. This was our second time to Santorini but the first time we were able to bring some family and friends from the US with us. Kastro Villas made our experience beyond memorable, one that everyone is still raving about. Especially being able to celebrate being together and healthy after covid, it was just a very special experience.

The room was exactly as expected, like a postcard. The non heated jacuzzi was private and very welcome in the heat. Breakfast was served exactly on time each morning to our patio. The manager (Mr Paulavros) arranged for airport transfers to +from the airport and made himself available for advice, recommendations etc without being pushy. A really great place to stay in Oia. 

This place is so charming & magical! I do not take my research lightly so this really is among the best places you can stay in Oia. Perfectly located authentic cave for the best sunset views. We were staying at the Deluxe Suite with Sea View and loved every minute of our stay! We felt so privileged and grateful during the sunset when everyone gathered around the area to watch the sunset from every single possible advantage point whilst we were enjoying the view from our own private terrace. Very highly recommended. I proposed to my girlfriend during the sunset so this place will always be very special!

First of all, talk to the host before your arrival. He will arrange your pick-up from the port, welcome you at the walking zone entrance, take your luggage and walk you to your house. Literally it could not be easier and more comfortable. :) We had 2 rolling luggages, some hand luggages and could not even imagine taking it all to the house. 
Plus he took the time to explain everything about the property, the rooms, appliances, etc. We were also welcomed with a bottle of white wine so we could enjoy the sunset from our terrace. 

We stayed in two different houses: 
- The white house with blue gate had a very lovely view to the hill town, which was our favourite.
The main room had a indoor jacuzzi which was very nice touch! The bathroom was very nice and spacious considering it's a cave and the bed was very comfortable. Plus we had a terrace on top! Great spot for breakfast if weather allows. The house had a fully equipped kitchen with washing machine and dryer, which was an excellent surprise. The living room area was really nice and useful. (This house actually has 3 rooms, perfect for 3 couples or a group of 6.)

- And the (Instagram famous) orange house with blue door and view to the caldera.
The two rooms in this house have separate entrances and a common terrace. The main room also had a jacuzzi but with view to the terrace. And the bathroom is downstairs with no door, which was a little weird. There was no kitchen in either room or washing machine. Both rooms were nice and spacious but we did not have a common living room like in the other house. 

The host and his staff went out of their way to make our stay perfect, breakfast was served precisely on time and they were constantly making sure the houses were clean. Not to mention they were very friendly. 
We loved our stay in there.

Get ready to have people camping on your entrance to take pictures, even opening (or trying to open) the entrance door and offering money to take pictures.
People literally climb on top of your entrance and can see you inside, so your terrace is not private, be aware and wear swimsuit in your jacuzzi hahaha.

In the first white house our indoor jacuzzi decided to switch itself on at 4:45 AM, which was a little annoying as it couldn't be switched off. 
In the second orange house water temperature was very low and didn't rise till the morning. Bathroom in the main room was very uncomfortable, since it didn't have any door, people could potentially see you from the entrance to the room.

Perfect for couples and the view of the sunset! The most romantic view you could ever imagine! Close to everything you want to visit in Oia. The hotel had a wonderful breakfast which was delivered to your private cave every morning. Stairs to the village below are a few steps away and the best restaurants for fresh fish/ Octopus are at the bottom of those steps. The beds were very comfortable and our private balcony was breath taking <3.

Our stay at Kastro Oia Houses in the superior suite with sunset view was exactly as
others have said-AMAZING. Very private, indoor tub/pool, wonderful facilities and amazing staff. We spent every evening relaxing with a cold wine  to watch the sunset before heading out for dinner
