Hotel Koutriaris

Me and my mother stayed at Hotel Koutriaris in Distomo because I work with someone from this village who's family still live there. And it proved to be ideal for our needs, It is in the heart of the village, and everyone made us feel welcome, I believe that even if I had not known some people from this village the welcome would have been just as warm. The rooms were clean and the linen was changed frequently, many of the locals used the cafe / bar downstairs to socialise in. It is not probably the ideal place to take children to, my mothers room on the first floor had a balcony overlooking the square in front of the church, the church bells will ensure that you probably won't oversleep we did not mind this. My room was also on the first floor with a large balcony with views of local buildings and mountains / hills in the background. Having a car is essential if you wish to tour the surrounding countryside, coast or sites such as Delphi or the monastry which is a thousand years old and still in use. We visited at easter which is a real big deal in Greece with festivities going on over the weekend. This location is not your typical tourist location but if you want a taste of the real Greece then this place would do nicely.
