Villa Akros is first class destination. The hosts Maria and Nick do everything to make your stay a great experience. The pool and adjoining courtyard is spacious, with beautiful stone work. The pool is as big as the photos look. Swam laps in the pool everyday. Rooms are well appointed, clean and good sized. 
This all comes with the most incredible views on the island. Sitting above the town of Kerri, over looking Zante and Turtle Island. Just amazing.
The island has many great beaches, quaint towns and several great restaurants.
The people on the island are friendly, helpful and glad to have you on their island.

Very cozy and incredible villa! The view is just stunning with the best view to turtle island and the sunrise.  The hostess are super friendly and definitely made the difference!! We followed all their recommendations to go around the island and all of them were incredibly useful!

Incredible view and amazing location!

On a trip to Zakyntos we decided to stay at Akros Villa. The pictures were really appealing and we decided to go for it, even though there was only one review on tripadvisor. We could not have been happier. 
The villa is at the end of a steep road and therefore you will need a car (possibly a medium one), but you would have needed it anyway to visit the island.
The place is most striking: on a hillside overlooking the Limni Bay and the wonderful Marathonisi Island. The view is amazing. The pool awesome (a real one, no chlorine, just slightly salted). The apartments are spacious and fully equipped (washing machine in common, dishwasher, hair dryer), but what really is amazing has yet to come! Just entering the place you understand that it has sort of an international flare, which is rare to find in Greece. Then you meet Nick and Marika! They are Greek, Marika is from that very area in Zakynthos, but leave in New York. What can I say? They are the best hosts anyone can hope for. They made our stay memorable. Thank you always!

Fantastic

To put this in context, I am one of those annoying people who doesn't actually write reviews but always reads them ahead of booking. On this occasion however, I felt I had to write a review for Villa Akros, I can't believe I was only able to find a single review on it before we went. This place is great! We travelled as a family of 4 with kids aged 10 and 6 and we all loved it.

The villa itself is actually one large house with 4/5 self catering apartments within it (all with sea view). The photo's, although nice, (some can be found on booking dot com) don't actually do it justice, especially the view. I was originally looking for an independant villa with a private pool and might have been put off booking this one because it is essentially an apartment in the villa itself, shared with up to 4 other guests. I'm so glad I did book it though. There were only 2 other rooms occupied whilst we were there and you have so much space and that you'd barely notice. Marika, the owner, spends part of the year living at the property (upstairs) and the rest elswhere. Again, in the past this may have been a fact that discouraged me but not this time and it needn't anyone else. She is a wonderful guest and welcomed us with open arms. We didn't feel 'under her watchful eye' or as if we were literally right next door to the owner at any point...she was there if we needed her (and recommended several lovely local restaurants) but otherwise we were given plenty of space. 

The apartment itself is fine. An open plan layout with a  kitchen with adequate self catering facilities; cooker, fridge, freezer, pots/pans, crockery and utensils; A dining table and 4 chairs; a sofa and single chair that both convert into beds. There is also a double bedroom with walk in wardrobe/dressing room and a toilet/shower room. It is comfortable and everything that we needed. Marika often has her family to stay and it felt more like a family room than a hotel suite for example. 

There is plenty of outdoor space including tables and chairs to sit at, an outdoor dining table, a hammock and an orchard with tomatoes, chilli's, aubergine, lemons, peaches, plums, lychees and more...all of which you are free to help yourself to!

The pool is about 15 metres in length, 1.5 metres in the shallow end and 3 metres at the deep end. There is a small area of shallower water and also a small splash pool too. There are a few sunbeds and comfy chairs and a pergola for some shade. The pool is treated with a saline treatment system which in my opinion is so much better than a traditional chlorine system. It doesn't taste or smell of sea salt or chlorine.

The view is perhaps the most impressive element. As the villa is quite high on the hill you can sea over the village of Keri Limni and all accross the bay. The sun rises behind turtle island and then comes into eyeline at about 6.30am. You can also just about see the sea from within the pool. 

As it is based on the hillside, there is a steep and fairly bumpy, uneven road that leads to it from the 'main' road. 
In terms of distances: there is small road that leads directly down to the village which is about 300m from the villa, via a cafe bar. Just bear in mind that there are no street lights so if you were to be walking back from the tavernas/restaurants in the village after dark you'd probably need a torch.

It is possible to stay in this villa without a car if you plan to stay in and around the village of Keri Limni (Keri beach). There are enough family run restaurants to chose from that would mean you could eat somewhere different each day. The village itself does not have any late night bars or clubs that are associated with other more touristy and noisy parts of the island. There are companies that offer excursions at the beachfront so there is plenty to do. We did hire a car for the duration of our stay as we like to explore the island where we are staying and try and see as much as possible so whilst that is my personal preference, it is not essential.
