We rang ahead to try and reserve a pitch as reviews suggested it’s nearly always full, but was told we would have to go on the German version of their website to book, which I did but you’ll need to have google translate handy unless you’re fluent in German to complete the lengthy booking form!  Reception is ok and they speak some English but as others have said, it’s all about the Germans!  WiFi is free but only near reception and a plan of the town is 8 euros so we used google maps.  It was 46 euros a night which isn’t really justified as you get nothing extra, only to be able to walk into the town which took around 20 mins.  Pitches were a bit cramped and completely open but that said they were big enough for 7 to 8m long Motorhomes.

Expensive but ideally situated.

I came to check-in at about 8pm with two kids. Nobody informed us the camp will be closed for cars from 10pm. After building a tent I went with kids to have a dinner in the center of the city, we came back slightly after 10pm and were badly surprised the barrier for the cars was down. The restaurant staff told us it is impossible to get in for the cars till the morning. Even I paid for the car parking next to my tent, I had to leave the car in the street parking, take the kids and all our stuff from the car to the tent which was not too near. In the morning I asked politelly at the reception why they didn´t inform me about closing the barrier, they started to be very rude and said it is my thing to ask and it is like that everywhere in Germany (which is not definatelly the truth, this month we stayed also in Saxony and the camp was accesible 24/7), when I said this to the reception lady she told me : SHUT YOUR MOUTH! WE HOPE YOU WILL NOT COME AGAIN!....Well, I am sure I will not! This personnel really discouraged me, it was not so cheap and the toilets and bathroom were not really clean. So I strictly do not reccomend!

Very rude reception personnel

We arrived at 12:45 to find the barrier down and a notice to say that the barrier and office opens at 15:00. The office and barrier is closed from 12:00 to 15:00. We had to park on a nearby residential street (as there was no waiting area) and wait until 15:00. Arriving back at 14:50 to find about 8 other units (caravans & motorhomes) all waiting outside. Check-in was long winded and we all had to wait for the unit parked at the barrier to move before getting in. We got to our pitch at about 15:45.

Internal roads were very narrow and the pitches were small and cramped. Accessing some pitches was not really possible without driving across other pitches the roads were so narrow. Our motorhome is 7.5m long and it was parked less than a meter from the unit behind us. Our 25m long plugin cable would not reach the PowerPoint for the pitch (luckily we had another extension).

Location is perfect. It's a few minutes cycle into town and on the back of the river. There is a lovely park next door. There are supermarkets within walking distance.

Bathrooms were spotless with plenty of hot water. WiFi was only around the reception.

Cramped campsite with poor access.

The campsite itself is quite nice with good facilities. We arrived late so the office was shut so we stopped in the campsite but could not attach electricity. In the morning we went to the office to pay wanting to leave as early as possible as we had a long journey to make. However the whole process of checking out was very slow and we then found out we paid a flat rate which wasn’t cheap regardless of using electricity or not. When I mentioned that this didn’t seem very fair, the lady behind the desk told me that we are all adults here not children and I should read the notice (which was all in German and partially hidden behind another notice). “Use google translate!” she said rather sarcastically. I would recommend people go to Naab Pielenhofen campsite down the road which we have been to before and it is so lovely! 

Shame about the attitude 

We just slept in the barrel. It was fun, clean and comfortable stay. Its next to the river and peaceful park. I found only one negative and its that the office and market close at 8 PM. Restaurnat in camp is open, thats good. Also the bus stop is just in front of the camp.

Peaceful stay

A perfectly adequate campsite.  Some pitches are quite small but most are a reasonable size. Friendly staff (but they are closed 12 - 1500) we arrived and found our pitch (we had booked) and that was Ok. The imbiss was cheap and cheerful  - long on quantity and short on quality . A 35 min walk to the town  - take care as they have an Umwelt zone in Regensburg. It's a lovely town - well worth visiting. 

Convenient campsite 

Overpriced compared to others and not worth it for the price. You can get more (and friendlier) for a lot less. Our site was ok, needed an extra cord to link to electricity. Good dump facilities and fill up points and sinks for washing up which was handy as we had no water. I think charging 35 a night is ridiculous for a campervan at this site.
