Metzgerei und Gästehaus Grandauer

Gastehaus Grandauer is in Nußdorf, Germany, in the state of Bavaria. It is very close to the Austrian border. I stayed here because staying right in the ski villages is expensive. Here, you are 15 minutes to 45 minutes to a number of ski resorts. Driving a few minutes in the morning is worth it when you are paying €75 a night versus €200+ in the Austrian Alps and you are getting less. The rooms are cozy and have a shared balcony. The bathrooms have heated floors, which is great, and nice fluffy towels and shampoo is provided. There is free internet, and a small TV in the rooms. The family lives on the 1st floor and guests are on the 2nd floor. The ground floor is the entrance and the Metzgerei (butcher). Breakfast is included and they send you across the street to the hotel where you have a typical German breakfast. Fresh bread, cheese, meat, eggs, müsli, fresh fruits, and a coffee machine that makes cappuccino, milch kaffee, and other hot beverages. Everything was great. Breakfast is served from 6:30-9:00 I believe, I can't remember exaclty, but if you are going to go ski you'll want to get an early start. Walking back to the Gästehaus you can see the Alps. It's breathtaking, I arrived in the evening the night before so I didn't see how close you actually are. I stayed 3 night, I think most people just come through on their way to Austria, but I would rather stay here and then try out a different resort every day (which is what I did). The resorts in Austria are very busy, but the ones in Germany are just as good, but all the tourists flock to Austria. On may way out I stopped at the Metzgerei below and purchased some local cheese. It was very good, and unique to that butcher. I would stay here again, and recommend it to anyone. If you are a family with a small child they even have a large crib they can put in your room.
