A rather large family hotel in the very center of the village. Everything was ok and pleasant. My room was not very large but fully equipped and comfortable. There is an interesting spa area that was unfortunately closed in summer but would be another good point in winter. Altogether a good stay.

Unpretentious and very nice

We had a nice stay. The hotel is in a great location right on lake Konstance and in a great part of town. The whole area is gorgeous and very relaxing with great paths for cycling. The hotel itself is a famil run hotel with some very nice characteristics like old style real keys and a restaurant right on the water. The food was fantastic. The only reason I give this place a three is a general lack of interest by staff overall.

Our stay at Hotel Engel in Langenargen

Re-visited the restaurant from previous visits of 90's. Impressed that the food quality & price-match are still good. We had a few courses and all were delightful!
Smoked felchen; Lightly fried-mixed-fish salad; fried calf liver ; wonderful & juicy veal chop.
For Vegans...you will love the Ricotta-spinach filled ravioli!

Consistent restaurant quality

We arrived at 8pm following a long journey on a motorbike in heavy rain, no one on reception but when the receptionist arrived she was welcoming. Came down to dinner at 8;40 to be told the kitchen shuts at 9;00. No meal available, very disappointing. Fortunately, due to its town location, we found a lovely Italian cafe round the corner.
Our room, with a traditional key was fine with a modern TV & a bottle of water but no tea/coffee making facilities. The decent shower flooded the bathroom, no bath. Quiet, peaceful, good view of street. Very comfortable & attractive surroundings, wandering beside the lake.
Breakfast was a high standard, plentiful and well staffed with polite, helpful and welcoming ladies. Lovely dining room with lake views - apparently 64k long, seating outside.

Delightful location on Lake Constance

A very enjoyable stay. This is one of the best hotels I have used in many years. An ideal recovery space after a long hard day of travel and work. 

The restaurant, public spaces and bedroom were all comfortable, peaceful and very relaxing. The dinner and the breakfast were excellent. A good variety of fresh food, prepared and presented very nicely. The only issue - no tea or coffee facility in the bedroom.

It's clear that the family owners are passionate about ensuring an excellent stay for their guests.

I will use this hotel again and recommend it highly.

Comfortable and relaxing, perfect after a hard day of work

We had a room overlooking the lake- with a balcony. Loved waking up to mist on the lake and Alps rising above it in the background. Sat outside in the evening for fresh air and quiet. Hotel is comfortable, clean and quiet. Staff are friendly. We had a lovely weekend retreat to the lake (in October to attend a wedding).  
Note- the location is a short 90 minute drive to Zurich Airport for planning travels.
