The Elbhotel lies just next to the Elbe and the ferry on the "tourist" side of Bad Schandau. It's a neat and tidy hotel. Our room was spatious. The staff was friendly. There's a restaurant, which is easy to book if you arrive a bit later. We also had a nice breakfast there. All in all a good stay.

Pleasant stay near the Elbe

well were to start, it's a very nice hotel, nice welcome at the reception,  good bed and always clean. Breakfast was top, evening meal very good, 
the service is also very good, real top for me this hotel

A nice place to stay

The fact that I stayed in this hotel was in fact an accident: I had intended to stay in the neighboring Elbresidenz, and the heavy prices seemed quite right. I ended up in this mediocre hotel. It is an ok place. But expect no flying colors. Generally, I like when things work and when smart people have made up a good concept. This is not such a hotel. It looks as if being refurbished in the 80ies (but knowing the history I know this cannot be right). Things are complicated: The checkin, the checkout. I could hardly enter when I arrived after 10 pm and could hardly leave before 6am. When I asked when the boats would go I got limited information. Taxis have been impossible to bet. The hotel is surely not optimized for business travel. It may work for people leisurely spending a couple of quiet days there.

A mediocre place just next to a stellar one

We were very pleased in general with the Elbhotel. We stayed there during a week-long Malerweg hiking trip – on our first night and on our last three nights in the area, i.e. four nights in total.

The room we had on our first night did not overlook the river. The room was fine, but we would have like the Elb view. So we asked for this for our second stay a few days later – which they promised us.

The first room (room 101 – no river view) was quite OK, quite spacious, window on to a terrace. The bathroom was also fine. But our second room (room 314) a few days later was far better – this had a gorgeous view on the river and a French balcony so we could open it up wide and really enjoy the view. This room was bigger and better than the first one, and the bathroom was a lot bigger too – really big in fact. Having this room for our three nights in a row made our stay really pleasant.

The Elbhotel has a very practical location in Bad Schandau, right on the ferry and next to a backery and supermarket (just across the road from the small hotel car park). The public parking (Elbkai) is right in front of the hotel.

The staff was really friendly, both in the reception and in the restaurant. We had dinner there on the first night – nothing spectacular but OK.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Elbhotel, but particularly so with the river view room.

Very good experience, particularly with river view

I got a nice feeling when I arrive since this is a genuine place with friendly crew.

Room was very very clean. Breakfast very good.
There is a ferry nearby if you want to reach the train station quickly.

Minus: Could be a little cheaper :-)

Genuine place

We enjoyed our stay. Great location right on the river. Room was clean and staff were friendly. Views on the river side were great. Breakfast was pretty good as was the restaurant for dinner. We would have loved air conditioning and a fridge. 

Great location

The rooms are fully up to standard with lovely en-suite bathroom. Staff were all friendly and the breakfasts excellent -  all you can eat! The hotel is perfectly situated with a huge patio restaurant overlooking the river Elbe. Very pleased.

Spotlessly clean throughout

While the views out to the river were beautiful, we found the actual facilities lacking. The wifi was impossible unless you were sitting in the foyer, pillows were next to useless, and no tea/coffee making facilities in the room was a disappointed too.

Not great

32 of us stayed at Elbhotel for 11 nights in June 2017 and we all thought the hotel was excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are well appointed, the breakfast was fine, we stayed on B/B and ate a few times at the hotel either with a set H/B menu or a-la-carte. There aren't many negative things to say other than the Wifi is iffy and the bar closes at around 10 but so does the whole town. The hotel is well placed just a  minute away from the ferry to the station and the "bus station" with  great views over the Elbe from the terrace and half the rooms.
