Very very poor customer service, unprofessional and inappropriate.

Do better...
Charged over £200 and didn't see the inside of the building. And the words that I got from the customer service rep was undesirable rude and to tell you the truth it is not about the money it's the attitude that was deplorable.
But trust me you took from me you shall loose so much more in the future. And I hope you sleep well tonight knowing what you did .. 


I would not recommend to an animal further more human 

Lovely clean comfortable room in an historic building just what we needed after a long drive. Old hotel  with tons of history. Bed was comfortable and comfortable. Was met by a very friendly lady who gave us a parking space  then gave us a map of st malo and the highlights of the area.  Breakfast was very nice set in the downstairs basement

Lovely overnight stop

Good location, inside the walls in Saint-Malo, and friendly personnel. Old rooms, a toilet so small you hardly get in. No air-condition, hard beds and one slow moving elevator. NOT worth the price. Breakfast, with no warm food  choices (eggs, bacon, sausages etc).

Good location, nothing more

St Malo is a dream, even if it rains everyday (which it did!) Breakfast, lunch and dinner became key points.

The old town (Intra-Muros) is an absolute delight, and one would choose to stay there. The downside is that establishments tend to be rather cramped - it is a result of the architecture.

Service was very friendly, and the breakfast very good.

The rooms could probably use a refurbishment sometime. Space is a little cramped, but that is a general problem if you are staying in Intra Muros in St Malo - it is part of the price for the excellent location!

Excellent location

Convenient for the ferry terminus, staff friendly and helpful.  Breakfast very good. Room 510 disappointed no mat in the bath itself provided and had to ask. We experienced a humming noise from somewhere over the three nights disturbing 
our sleep.  We discerned it was coming from a small in the room by the toilet and bathroom.  We reported it to the manager but she professed no knowledge of it or what it could possibly be.  Our advice to visitors check it out before booking and report the noise.

Reasonably comfortable, some issues

Stayed here this week for work, 

Plus.... clean and tidy. Minimalistic style.

Minuses..... not in main hotel, after check in got taken to another building 200m away, no fire exit other than one way in. 3 floors no lift painful jump, no toilet paper, shower was a dribble, no soap in shower, one lamp on table no light on celing the lamps over the bed had no bulbs, one power socket so if you wanted to charge your phone or have a coffee you had no light. Tv on celing practically. No one to hand key back to on check out as main hotel all locked up at 7am and our key would not allow us to the main building. 

Won't be staying here again sorry

West wing

I’ll start this review with the important bit by complimenting the staff on their excellent and friendly service. They were extremely helpful throughout. And now I need to put my review in context:

We are a family of five with three teenaged boys, travelling on a budget, and we opted to stay inside the walls of the old city in St. Malo. Because of that we have to manage our expectations. We are in a very old city, with very old buildings that were not designed for our modern needs, and certainly not designed for the huge hotel rooms that we’ve come to expect in North America. With more money we could have had more space inside the walls. With the same money we could have had more space, but outside the walls. You get the picture.

In that context I’m rating this hotel as ‘Average’ for this area.  Nothing in our experience warranted dropping the rating lower or raising it higher. 

This was a family stay for us, five people in two rooms. The hotel has two buildings, the Armateurs (main) and the Skippers (separate annex), and we were in the Skippers.  Our double room is pictured on the site and is quite small. As mentioned in an earlier review, there is about 50cm space on either side of the bed. The door to the shower room will not open all the way without hitting the bed, and it is a very narrow door by normal standards. Opened as far as possible I still had to turn sideways to go through the doorway. The WC is tiny by any standards. At 5’ 10” and 180lbs I am not a huge person, but I had difficulty even turning around in the WC and once bashed my forehead on the far wall while getting up from the toilet. The ‘double’ bed in our room was two cot-sized beds pushed together, and not attached to each other. They slide on the laminate floor so falling into the space between is a possibility should you both decide to be in the same spot at the same time - nudge nudge, wink wink. However, I’m not sure if a proper double bed could be brought in here unless it was brought through the windows.

Luggage storage in our room was minimal, and we had no dresser, so we had to live out of our suitcases. Our three kids were in a triple room just off the same hallway as ours and their room was much larger, had ample luggage storage for 4-5 people, a large bath/shower room (with a tub!) and a larger WC. If there are two people travelling I’d suggest spending the extra money to book the triple which would be much more comfortable. My wife and I had to shuffle around each other in our double room. The triple has room for two people to pass.

The wifi in our building was nothing less than awful. It would occasionally work quite well, but over a three-day stay it was mostly slow, and often non-existent. I regularly lost connection and was asked repeatedly to sign in. That was with my laptop, but trying to stay connected on my phone was hopeless, and after the first day I gave up trying. When I got an email from work asking me to do a bit of work on an important project I left the building and and went to the main building with my laptop where I worked in the lobby with a good wifi connection. 

Bottom line is that other than space and wifi, there was nothing wrong with this hotel, and nothing outstanding. But it’s inside the walls and that’s pretty cool.

Reasonably comfortable, small rooms, some issues

Great location in the old town just away from all the tourists but close to walk to everything including the ferry terminal.  Comfortable room in annexe near main hotel.  A little small with lots of luggage.  Quiet.

Convenient quiet and comfortable hotel.

After spending a night in a budget hotel it was nice to get to something a little more quaint and comfortable. Remember, no hotel in France will have large rooms but this was really nice. With the windows open there was a nice air flow which kept it cool in the evenings. Unfortunately there was a group of drunks at 3 in the morning in the streets that were rather noisy but that was not anyone's fault. The bed was comfortable and the shower was nice and hot. Like  most places in France, they provided a hairdryer so I didn't need to take one at all on the trip. The breakfast was simple and good. I loved making my own 3-minute (or however long) eggs in the morning. It did take a couple of tries to get it right (the water wasn't hot enough). And the other assortments were great. The service was truly excellent and I would recommend this place to everyone.
