We had a lovely room with good facilities. The owner was very friendly and helpful, recommending places to visit and providing vouchers. The breakfast was nice. 

It's very close to the wine caves but relatively far from town ca. 40min walk, although you can walk along the river for most of the way.

Lovely visit

What a lovely stay we had here. My wife and nearly two year old daughter spent 4 nights here on the outskirts of Saumur and had a wonderful time. Sophie and Gerard welcomed us into their family and could not have been more helpful. We are regular visitors to Saumur and I have to say that this is the best place that we have stayed in. The house is stunning, they have kept all the original features and the bedrooms are large and cosy. We were lucky enough to meet (almost) their whole family and what a credit they are to their parents. This is now the only place we will stay at when we are in the area. Thanks again and the keys are in the post!

An amazing find

This is a charming large, old style, French house. Sophie, the hostess, is delightful and so eager to help. On our fairly late arrival, she booked us in a nearby restaurant, and was keen to point out the highlights, of which there are plenty, of Saumur and the immediate area. Our bedroom was very spacious, with a new ensuite bathroom. The furniture was "period", including a very comfy canopied bed, large dressing table and wardrobe. The grounds are very pleasant with an excellent pool, which my wife thoroughly enjoyed. Good quality breakfast, though no choice and unchanging, however this is normal in this type of property, particularly in France. It's an easy 15-20 minutes walk into Saumur, or 5 minute drive (parking after 7 was no problem).We stayed 3 nights and at E90 per night this was an absolute bargain. Saumur and the area around are brilliant.

Old style charm

Great hosts, Sophie  & her husband, a real family home which I would love to own. Relaxed & could have stayed another 2 nights a loads to do in Saumur. Only had enough time to do just 1 wine tasting, so will have to visit again, & would reserve our place again!!

Lovely surprise!

We have just returned from France where we do bespoke cycling tours as our business. On our way back we booked into La Lucasserie on a whim through booking.com - we didn't know much about where we were heading as it was really just a stop off on our way back to the UK. On arriving at the property we were greeted by Sophie, one of the owners, who immediately offered to let us park our rather long van and trailer on their drive. She also offered the help of her sons and husband to move the trailer if we needed to unhitch it to move it the next day.
She showed us to our gorgeous room overlooking the garden and heated pool and said that we could happily bath if we liked, despite the fact that it was already about 8pm when we arrived! 
She offered us cold beers, talked us through where we could eat and then even gave us a lift into Saumur, which is only a 5 minute drive, so that we could dine there - what a hostess! 
Sophie uncovered the pool for us in the morning so that we could swim before breakfast and then prepared us a lovely spread outside, including her delicious homemade yogurt and jam. 
The bedroom was just picture perfect and the family are so welcoming and lovely. The house is gorgeous and typically French in its creative but classic décor. The garden also has a cave at the end of it, which is part of the cave system on the street, many of which belong to very prestigious wineries that line the street further up - another great reason to stop here - we did a tour of Bouvet Ladubay before we left the next morning!
I would strongly recommend staying here as it really is in a league of its own thanks to Sophie and her family. We will be heading back as soon as we can!

A beautiful, peaceful haven with bags of history and lovely owners!

Stayed in Saumur for a coupple of nights, and had booked at la Lacasserie. The hostess is very lovely and eventhough she doesn't speak much english and we not much french but we manged.
The rooms are in reallity (ensuite) bedrooms in her house, and you have the feeiling that your visiting someones private home. We weren't prepared for that through what we'd read about the place before booking. But if your ok with that, la Lucasserie is a very lovely guesthouse/home.
It is located outside Saumur, and taxies are diffecult to get (After 10pm there's none) so to get to and from Saumur at night you should be driving yourself. There are two restaurants nearby the guesthouse, we tried one but I'm not sure that I will recommend it, eventhough it has sharm.
