Below expectations. Simple room, no tv, insufficient extra bed and hard mattresses. The breakfast, totally industrial, and outside the French standards (pastries, cheese, cold meats .....).  Not easy to find and far from restaurants etc ...

Poor

Family of four, children aged 9 and 7, we stayed five nights at Iris Cottage. Ideal place for us: Anne-Sophie and Jose’ are wonderful hosts, very attentive to every details, extremely welcoming and friendly. Our children were made to feel at home and enjoyed playing with the two friendly dogs, Ilko and Djude as well as allowed to help groom Tulip the horse. The location is also ideal, a short walk to Azay-le-Rideau and for visiting the local castles. Highly recommended.

Perfect stay

Our stay at Le Clos de la Touche was wonderful! The charming cottage catered for our every need and the beautiful garden was perfect for warm, winey suppers after a long day's riding.  The home made yoghurts and delicious breakfast cakes set us up perfectly for busy days and Anne-Sophie was always warm and welcoming.  Of course Tulip the horse and the lovely dogs were the icing on the cake!  Thanks for hosting our perfect escape! :)

The perfect stay!

Our 6 night stay in Iris maisonette in July in Le Clos de la Touche was one of the best anywhere in my 40 years of travelling around the world. No one thing made it so, it was the combination of: 
(1)Anne Sophie's most friendly welcome, her superb baking, her generous attention to all the most important details and her care to ensure we had a great stay
(2) the rustic simplicity of the maisonette that has everything necessary for a most comfortable stay either as B&B or independent catering
(3) the fabulous garden, an oasis of calm just a stones throw from the lovely village of Azay le Rideau with its 2 Chateaux, river canoeing, selection of restaurants and a superb boulangerie/patisserie and other delightful shops.
It would be hard to better le Clos de la Touche for company, for quietness, for great sleep and delicious breakfasts, for access to the city of Tours, the whole Touraine area by car, bike or walking.
We will be back!

Very Special B&B

We stayed in Iris Cottage which is classified as a B&B, but it gives you the best of both worlds, as you can go over to the main house for a nice French breakfast each morning, plus you also have a small kitchen of your own if your prefer to cook for yourself, as we do. We enjoyed staying here very much, the cottage is simply but nicely decorated, and has an excellent bathroom.  The bedroom is up some steep stairs and is spacious with a view over a pretty garden which you can sit in.  Anne-Sophie was extremely friendly and helpful, and made us feel very welcome, we would often find she had left us a lovely cake or treat in our fridge when we got home from a day exploring. The village of Cheille is tiny, but it does have a boulangerie.  It is just a 2 minute drive to Azay le Rideau, a very charming and much bigger village with plenty of facilities (including a tourist information office, cafes, restaurants, post office, market day and a charming chateau). The road is well lit, so you can easily and safely walk 10 minutes to Azay for dinner in the evening.  We found le Clos de la Touche a wonderful base for exploring the Touraine region, and it was a 15 minute drive to Chateau Villandry, our main reason for visiting the region.  The wifi was not great in our cottage, but worked very well in the main house which is a regular B&B. It is convenient that you do not need to book the cottage for a whole week.  We stayed 5 nights, but wished we had longer as there are so many interesting places, villages and small towns to visit nearby. Thank you Anne-Sophie for being such a great hostess, and providing a lovely little home for us.  If the wifi had been better we would have rated the cottage excellent.   Highly recommended 😄
