Absolutely love this guesthouse. Spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Fully furnished kitchen. Incredible views.The owners are wonderful and so gracious. They helped me with the bus schedule for my departure and even made lunch for me. They couldn't have been any nicer! If you're looking for peaceful, relaxing getaway...this is definitely the place!

Absolutely wonderful stay. I would highly recommend it as a great base for first 1-2 days 1) in the town next to cafe , grocery store and marina 2) very close to airport for a jet lagged drive 3) close to attractions ! Esp that very instagram waterfall 4) gives you a taste of foroese home . Thank you to the hosts for allowing late check out

I went to Sorvagur during the Covid Summer of 2020, at a time when travel was challenging. I was extremely fortunate to find a place as responsible and covid secure, friendly and efficient as Guesthouse Hugo. Located right on the waterfront a stone's throw from the harbour, it is close to all the amenities has lovely water views and wonderful facilities. It is extremely clean and well-appointed.
i met Kent, who co-owns it, and he gave me much helpful advice, including nearby facilities.
i learned only later that Kent's main business is not the guesthouse at all, but in fact tours and car rental. Had I known that beforehand, I would have benefitted greatly as Kent gives residents at Guesthouse Hugo discounts on their other services.
Hopefully things will be back to normal in 2021, and future travellers will find this review helpful

Brilliantly Located, Quaint, Friendly

This small guesthouse is located right on the water and offers outstanding views of the bay and surrounding areas - beautiful. The rooms - of which there are about 4 or 5 - are all on the first floor (not the ground floor), with two shared bathrooms, a small kitchen, and a lounge area. The entire place is rather cozy and it's certainly quiet.

The room I stayed in was just fine for two people. Enough space for the bed, a small desk, and a chair. If you've lots of luggage, you may get cramped. The bed was comfortable, and there's a window you can open to let in some cool air.

Breakfast was in a to-go bag since I stayed during COVID times. It was adequate, but likely not as good or as robust had we been able to eat in the dining room downstairs.

Plenty of parking out front (and just about everywhere in the Faroes), WiFi worked well, showers were hot, and those views out the window....

Note there is a restaurant on the ground floor and the food smelled great.

We were able to store our luggage temporarily in the lounge area while we did a day trip to Mykines islands (highly recommended, by the way).

I talked to the Staff - well, I talked to one guy, whom I assume to be the owner - and he was so very nice.

An excellent place to stay!

Oh and I walked to the guesthouse from the airport - 30 minutes max. Beautiful walk.

Quiet, cozy, comfortable

Sørvágur is such a charming village, a stone's throw from the FAE airport. I was able to walk to the guesthouse from the airport. Not every inch of the way is paved, so I carried the suitcase for bits and bits. It didn't rain.
I really, really like the guesthouse. It only has 4 rooms, total. The single room is facing the fjord. There's a lot of difference between high tide, and low tide. Very enjoyable to watch the birdlife, and they have complimentary binoculars on the window shelf. 
Breakfast is prepared and ready on a plate. If there's something you don't eat, you should mention that beforehand, since you won't be doing it yourself. 
Coffee and tea is also available. I would have wanted some powder creamer, or milk. No big deal. Everything is just phenomenal. And the wi-fi works perfectly well.

As quiet and relaxing as it can be

Very nice and comfortable place to stay. There’s a common area and kitchen to sit about when the rain is coming down. Below is a good restaurant when open in season. The hosts are very agreeable and helpful. Convenient to Vágar airport and the bus stop to go to Tórshavn.
Highly recommended.

Excellent place to stay near airport 

Lots to like! Comfy bed, nice smelling bed sheets, good kitchen area, TV in the room & the owner is super friendly. We had a delicious salmon dinner downstairs to cap off our fab day at Mykines. Interesting restaurant decor.


Great stay

Emily said most of what I'd say.  While basic, it was very comfortable & easy.  They accommodated my need for gluten-free bread (delicious) in the bagged breakfast. I appreciated that it was provided the night before too because I could just grab it and go as early as needed.  I was disappointed on my 2nd night to learn that the previous night had been the restaurant's closing day for the season, in late August, which they didn't mention. Tourism declines rapidly in late August so keep in mind that some services may be closed if traveling later.  Parking is reasonably easy nearby as was true throughout the Islands.  Side note, driving is fun with lots of curvy roads & tunnels.

It's the most beautiful guesthouse I have ever seen. Very comfortable and clean... it could be a 3 star (or more) hotel! Rooms are beautiful and spacious. You find everything you need, also a brush to clean up your shoes! The owners are really very kind, perfect place to stay in vagar.
It's also very next to the airport (but no noise) and to the ferry to mykines. Nearby there is a free parking area and a supermarket. Absolutely suggested

Great place!!!!!

Our stay at Guesthouse Hugo was an interesting experience. We liked some of the  retro features; for example the light switches and door handles. The wooden floors were very nice and the rooms looked out onto fantastic views. The owner was friendly and personable. However we did find the building and rooms pretty cold - we know it was end of season but a little more warmth would have been nice. The beds may also have been retro, but the mattresses were far too soft and uneven and the bed sheets had a strange texture to them. The location, close to the airport, makes it a handy place to stay.
