Great location right on Lake Tana. Excellent service. Food at restaurant was just OK. Friendly and very polite staff. Free massage was a plus but masseuses need more training. Will definitely stay at this resort again.

GREAT LOCATION RIGHT ON LAKE TANA!

Our stay at Kuriftu was our favourite in Ethiopia. The resort was beautiful, with a lovely view over Lake Tana. Our room was very comfortable and we were even given an upgrade with an upstairs room, it had a view of the lush garden and also Lake Tana. The hotel was very clean throughout and we ate regularly at the restaurant where the staff were very attentive and the food was good. There were occasions where the full menu wasn’t available but this didn’t distract from the experience. We took advantage of the free massages which were a nice bonus. The pool area was lovely and clean and we really enjoyed spending time relaxing either on the loungers and the couches which overlooked the lake. WiFi was a bit hit and miss, as was the water which was cut off on occasion but again this didn’t particularly impede on our time there and perhaps wasn’t necessarily the hotel’s fault. Overall, a very pleasant stay and we would definitely recommend Kuriftu if you are planning on visiting Bahir Dar.

A beautiful resort, a definite recommend

Our stay at Kuriftu was fabulous. We enjoyed the free massages and the staff were friendly and helpful on the whole. The room was fabulous, spacious and comfortable. Occasional power and water outages, but these were very brief. We’d definitely recommend this hotel. It was our best stay during all of our time in Ethiopia.

A definite recommend for Bahir Dar

The staff is very nice and helpful. The hotel has a very typical architecture that doesn’t clash with the environment (unlike other hotels in the surroundings). The room was very nice and cleaned every day (twice). We had some trouble with the electricity plugs and noise (we came on Ethiopian New Year’s Eve, the first night we didn’t sleep at all because of the noise, next days were much better, although you can hear the moazine from close by mosque every day at 4:00am).The restaurant of the hotel was very nice. The swimming pool was dirty so we didn’t use it. I took one complementary massage- it was very nice although the massage was only 30min long (instead of 45min)- but we found it to be a very nice complementary service from the hotel to offer. We would definitely stay at the same hotel if we come back to Bahir Dar

Really good hotel. Stylish, comfortable rooms, especially the lake-view rooms with balconies. Good restaurant and helpful staff. The free spa treatments on arrival were a great addition and added to the relaxing mood of the hotel. Great location to explore Lake Tana and Bahir Dar, or just to enjoy the environment. The hotel should add more of the cabanas/seating areas by the waterfront - the one there is lovely but not enough for all the guests.

Lovely relaxing hotel in a great location

Our stay was pleasant. The hotel has a Flint Stone feeling. Clean, Quiet, Relaxing, staff are attentive.Pro: The lake view, central and safe location, the free MASSAGE is priceless, Clean and eco-friendly rooms, free airport shuttle, free breakfastCons: Wifi was nonexistent. None of us were able to respond to our work emails, very irritating. The pool is dirty green/ algae (We had children who wanted to swim), restaurant food is 5/10, food service takes at least an hour or more to be served even for the simplest cup of tea and the food is not that good. Our group of 11 split and went to an outside restaurant after a couple of days of unpleasant experience, when we return from lunch the other half is still waiting for their order. The room key is single if you are couple.

A pleasant stay

Super African Traditional style. Only Mosquitos problem.

We stayed at this lovely place 2 nights. It was easy to book trips on the lake to the monastries and to Blu Nile from the site. The outside bar was a beautiful place with a wonderful view. The restaurant and the hotel are the best in town. The wifi was ok. If you go there, find time to take a walk on the path just under the bar to the smal local harbor and have a coffee or beer there.
