Hello travelers, I would like to uncover you a place, where you can buy souvenirs in this location for better price than in resort. As you go from the hotel towards a sea then just go to the left side along the coast. After you walk through guard shelter and cross the resort area, it takes 5 minutes of walk. You could see buildings under construction and little sand hills all around. Then as you go along the sea, keep your eye to the left. You will find a little carpet store with bracelets, necklace and rings. It belongs to the local men Musatafa, he is very kind and making all his beautifull items handmade by himself. He has truly wonderfull pieces. His store is open everyday from 9am till 6pm. He lives with his family near behind the shop in desert house and this shop is everything he does for a living.

Unfortunatelly not many people knows about him. So take a short walk, and support the good guy Mustafa :)

Forgotten store - Shoni Bay

This is a very nice hotel with a direct access to the beach, which is approx. several hundred meters long. There's a "house reef" on the beach where you can snorkel all day long or dive with a local diving center which is located in the hotel as well. I snorkeled and dived there, saw a turtle and a family of 15 dolphins. Staff is very nice and polite. There are mostly Italian and Czech tourists in this hotel, therefore restaurant serves a lot of Italian food which is pretty good. In general, quality of the food in this hotel was very good, especially sweets (greetings to the chief on the photo). We once took a massage in the local SPA which was OK as well, massage was very strong, price was good as well. Rooms in the hotel are a little bit old but they were cleaned everyday so one can't complain about cleanliness of the hotel, especially the main lobby which is very well decorated. I really enjoyed my holidays in this hotel, I'd especially recommend it to the divers or people who like to snorkel.

Nice vacation

Hello, dear friends, like-minded people and travelers!
I want to share my impressions of our 33rd holiday in Egypt. Stayed in Marsa Alam at the Shoni Bay 4* hotel for 5 nights, all inclusive. This is a return visit, my first visit to this hotel was last November, the hotel left a good impression and became one of my favourites.
  We spent the first 2 nights in Marsa Alam in another hotel, which was later changed to "Shoni Bay 4*". The main reason for changing the hotel was disappointment in the home reef and some minor shortcomings. And there was no doubt about the beauty of the "Shoni Bay 4*" reef. Both hotels were in the same price category, only you had to pay for a taxi. I will say in advance that the decision to change the hotel was the right one. Compared to last year, "Shoni Bay 4*" has even undergone changes for the better.
  A very pleasant surprise awaited me at the hotel - my favorite and best reception staff, Abdelrahman and Mohammed. The meeting was very warm, like with old friends. A compliment from the hotel awaited us in the room - a plate of fruit. Room on the 3rd floor with a view of the beach and the sea. The room is two-room, large and clean, a large bed, 1 small one, a wardrobe with a mirror, a safe, a refrigerator (freezes very well, even makes ice), TV, air conditioner. The bathroom has a shower cabin. There is a small hairdryer. The equipment is not new, but everything works. 2 bottles of water were brought daily. If there is not enough water, you can either buy it or pour it from a cooler into a bottle in bars. There is only soap in the bathroom, take shampoos and cream with you, because everything is very expensive in the hotel shops. Light insulation and sound insulation were normal, you could sleep well. There is a comfortable balcony.  There are 2 chairs, a table and a dryer on the balcony. Daily cleaning was good, thank you.
  The territory of the hotel is not large, compact, but very green and clean. The hotel is conventionally divided into an active zone and a rest zone. Both areas have pools and bars. I will not tell you anything about the water in the pools, because the pools did not interest me.
 The hotel has an atypical architecture for Egypt. The style of the main building is more reminiscent of European. The territory is very green and beautiful, the plants are taken care of.
food. Last year this was the hotel's biggest drawback, but this year things have improved a bit. The hotel has 2 restaurants: one in the main building, one on the beach. The selection of dishes is small, but still more than last year.  The dishes are well prepared, you will not go hungry. There was also fresh fruit. The restaurant has an indoor hall and an open terrace. Wine for lunch and dinner of normal quality. There are three bars under the "all inclusive" system: there is a main bar on the second floor and 2 bars on the beach (in the active and "relax" zones). The bars have standard Egyptian soft and alcoholic drinks. The quality of drinks is normal, the service is good. I drank only beer ("Stela" from bottles) and gin and tonic. It is a pity that wine is served only in restaurants during lunch or in the evening. There is also a constant shortage of normal beer glasses (there are small plastic disposable ones).
 Almost all the staff are friendly and polite. Service is not intrusive and with a smile. I would especially like to note the attention and professionalism of the reception staff. Thank you!!!  
 Animation at the hotel is international, very active and fun. We really enjoyed their evening shows and competitions. During the day, the animation team also actively entertains guests. I want to thank you that this year the music was not as loud as in November.
  The beach is clean and large, there is enough space for everyone, there is no need to reserve. In the "relax" zone, the sunbeds are generally in one row.  Towels are given on the beach in exchange for cards.
 I really enjoyed the hotel reef last year. I was afraid that the underwater world might deteriorate over time, but the opposite happened. The coral remained as alive and bright as last year. The specificity of this particular reef is that there are not many large fish here, but in each zone there are thousands of small bright anti, dascila and chromis. Many butterflies, parrots, groupers, arotrons, hyalines, flutes. There are several "nemos". There were huge tunas. A large number of shoals of mackerel hunting is simply captivating. In one swim, many stingrays were seen on the coral and in the bay. Saw a giant moray eel. When evening begins, many large and beautiful lionfish appear. The sea is like a luxurious aquarium. Each patch of coral is unique. You can swim for hours, admire the boundless sea and it will not bore you.
 On the second day of snorkeling, a huge pleasant surprise awaited us. A sea turtle appeared on the coral, which we did not admire for a long time, and then we met another one. We saw these turtles (boy and girl) every day in different places. On our last day at the hotel, they came to see us together straight from the bay. I hope these turtles are a couple and next time we visit the hotel we will meet a big family of turtles.
 In Shoni Bay, the sea is calm, but there are often storms near the nearby hotels. When the waves weren't big, we swam south behind the Bliss Nada Beach Resort pontoon. The coral there is much worse than in Shoni Bay. But there we met a gigantic barracuda. 
I will sum up. The hotel has several small, in my opinion, shortcomings: the building needs renovation, the cuisine is not very diverse, it would be good if there were wine and normal glasses for beer in the bars.  But its advantages overshadow all the disadvantages: in the first case, it is an incredible sea. I recommend this hotel specifically for snorkeling and diving.  The hotel again left very positive impressions. We would like to start again here.

Return to "Shoni Bay 4*"

So much comfortables beds in our room with nice view to The sea, every Rooms has views to The sea. 
Every day was a special program from animations team with Martina, Manuel, Jacobo and Gaina. Young italian and very sympatic team. Beautiful energy and always smile.
You can do aquagym, stretching at seaside, play pingpong, beachvolley, yoga and more rose.
Every day evening some special program, for example dancing, games, lotery… 
All inclusive week with all day drinks ať The bar, Food was delicious and everyone can choose. 
Our favourite was pasta at The end and soups.  Egyptian sweets also lovely!
But coffee, sorry it wasn’t coffee.

May week in Shoni Bay resort

Perfect holiday, special thanks to the animation team. Amazing sea and reef.
I enjoyed a lot the Egyptian night and the courtesy of all staff. If you want to enjoy the red sea this is the perfect place. Lot of activities and services  I will come back !

Relax holidays!

This was the second time we visited Shoni Bay, and it wasn’t for the last time, staff is always nice and smiling, kitchen is better than the last year, everybody pick something to eat, special thanks to Valentino, best waitress.Amazing beach and coral reef, direct acces to the sea. I really recomend Orca dive club, they are proffesionals and they do know what they are doing, beach lifeguards are smiling all the time. The best animation team-Jacopo, Giada, Martina and Manuel, very very comunicative with Czech people even they are from Italy, they know english very well and trying to make bonding with every guest, perfect program. 
For every future guest, enjoy your time in this resort, just don’t feed the fishes and don’t touch or step on the corals, nature here is very beautifull and fragile and if we don’t act with respect, in couple years nothing will be there.

Paradise in Marsa Alam

Great location, wonderful staff, clean and comfortable junior suite room, excellent food, wonderful underwater world... We were pleasantly surprised and would love to come back again.

beautiful holiday

I have to admit that I wasn't expecting any miracles and luxury when I was looking for a vacation, but I needed to rest from a year's work and recharge my batteries in the sun by the sea. I chose Shoni Bay, and I don't regret it. I had a cozy room with a view of the sea and a clean bathroom, the hotel staff was smiling, kind and promptly helpful during service. The water in swimming pools is crystal clear, the access to the sea is gradual and without a jetty. Snorkeling on coral reefs great. The food was very good, the selection smaller, but I always chose. The animators were mainly aimed at the Italian clientele, but they were good. But the best was the young Italian Sebastian originally from Romania. Pleasant and communicative, especially to our small Czech community, a really great young man. Quite by chance, we met here a great group from the Czech Republic, and we had a lot of fun. We were all very happy with our stay at Shoni Bay and also the swarms of mosquitoes were very happy to they have us (they sucked a lot), but it was enough to sleep all night with all the lights on and the mosquitoes eased their thirst. Overall, I had a very good impression of my stay and will definitely return to Shoni Bay again...............
