Hostal Santa Fe 2

This hotel is fab.
The staff are eager to please and are very polite and speak a little English too.
The rooms are immaculate and very comfy to sleep in. All are en suite too!!
There is wifi throughout the building with a good rooftop area to meet up with groups or to get fresh air.
The breakfasts are sufficient and tasty.
Highly recommend staying here.

Wood abounds in furnishings and architecture.  Very clean, with comfortable beds, and good showers. Room  was spacious and quiet. On Saturday parts of the famous market is right outside the hotel. Friendly staff. Plus the cost of the room for 2 people was only $23 plus tax. WiFi routers on each floor to ensure hi quality reception in the rooms. Make sure the taxi driver knows this is Santa fe 2 on Sucre y Colon

The price for private room and the location are more than perfect.

However, the walls in the hostel seem to be made out of paper. you hear EVERYTHING and as most of the rooms have windows going outside to the inner patio, all the sounds are magnified. Simply, make sure you have earplugs with you.

The hostel is in a good central location and is very clean throughout.  The room was comfortable enough with a decent bed.  In our room the shower had very low water  flow and so they moved us to a different room the following day which was much better.We found the staff to be surly and whilst helpful when you asked they were unsmiling.  Also the hostel advertisers breakfast for $3 - the day we had booked a trek to Fuya-Fuya we planned to have breakfast only to be told when we went down to the breakfast area that there was no breakfast that day!

Would recommend Hostal Santa Fe for a stay in Otavalo. The hostal is located a short walk from the main square. The twin room was on the small side but perfectly acceptable for a night or 2. The bed is comfortable and they have proper curtains which is a luxury in South American hostals. They've used wooden beams for constructing much of the hostal (doors, bannister etc.) which is a really nice touch. 

We were able to use the kitchen, which also has most of the utensils / cooking equipment you'd need for a short stay. The hostal also allows you to refill your water bottles free of charge. 

We didn't really have any interaction with the hostal. They weren't rude at all, it's just there was not much interaction, which is ok for a hotel perhaps not for a hostal.

Great location... with strong wifi...We arrived late. Our Hotels.com reservation was not received, but they provided us with rooms for the same price we booked. Breakfast was great. Eggs cooked the way you ask, juice, tea or coffee, bread, jam and cheese

First trip to the famous Otavalo Saturday market...could not have picked a better place to stay than Hostal Santa Fe located on a quiet cross street 2 blocks from the Plaza de Los Ponchos.  Easy $ 1.25 taxi from the bus station, lots of restaurants and bars  ( most active at weekend ) within blocks.  Very friendly indigenous couple run the hostal--husband speaks passable English for this spoiled gringo.  Rooms spotlessly clean, simply decorated, with almost instant hot water in the ensuite shower.  A simple full breakfast (eggs, coffee, cheese, butter, jam and roll) with varied fresh-made juice (mmmmm-maracuya!) can be included at $ 18 per night...very reasonable.  My only issues were the lack of a bureau for clothing ( there were 2 night-stands with drawers and a 3-prong clothes hook--along with a desk and chair!--in my single room ) and the hardness of the mattress.  I can sleep anywhere, but you should check at key time if you need to switch.  Beautiful ( and necessary ) wool blankets ensure a warm night and my room ( to the back ) was very quiet even though it opened onto an interior enclosed patio.  The hostal closes up at 10, but the one night we stayed out later--without telling our hosts--they had the door open before we could knock.  The street in front is quiet except for Saturday, when the market overflows right up to the hostal doorstep and beyond!  Also its a short bus ride  (or $ 5 taxi ) to the charming small village of Cotacachi, which is rightfully famous for the quantity and quality ( and prices! ) of its leather goods...lots of artisan and designer shops along 10 de Octobre and well worth a day trip !

We were woken at 5am by noisy staff talking loudly and banging machinery around, obviously whilst getting ready for the day and preparing breakfast.
Apart from this, the location was ideal and the rooms were lovey.
