Real Dream Hostel

I stayed here for 12,nights and had a really good time. The hostel is really colourful, quirky and charming with lots of eye catching paintings and statues dotted around the grounds.

My room was really nice, super comfy bed and nice warm covers. 

Chantal the owner is a really good host. She sent a taxi to the airport to meet me as I was travelling alone and she sat with me and helped me plan my tours for my stay. Her knowledge about the local area is outstanding!

Her family is really warm and inviting, their cat is also an awesome little dude who will steal your heart during your stay. 

I would recommend this place to anyone staying in Ibarra. It’s really quite special :) 

I only planned on staying a few nights but stayed for 10. The beds were sooo comfortable, there is a full kitchen to use, the center of the building is open air with beautiful trees,plants and artwork and Oh the hot showers!!!! The owners are fabulous and give you all the info on places to go, how to get around where to find anything you need etc. I will be staying there again next year when I go back to Ecuador.

The owner Chantal is so detailed in locating you to the places to go. The place is peaceful and magical. Loved it!!! The place is clean and comfortable. The best thing is the warm showers!!! The artwork is amazing plus very insightful. Great family hostal.

Beautiful hostel, beautiful family 

Definitely Recommend

Loved it!!!

We found the place on the Internet and we liked the presentation and the reviews. Unhappily we can’t say anything good or bad about the stay, just because we where not welcome there. First the owner Toni offered us a room to stay for one night, but two minutes later he felt different energies and wanted us to leave without a reason. Maybe we haven’t understood the converge of the three spirals in the Capricorn Room? We are open minded travellers and have slept in many unconventional beds all over the world so far. But sending us back to the street was definitely a no go!

Fly in the ointment

I called to book a room in this hostel because I read wonderful reviews and I liked the pics and the location. However, as a few other people have stated, the experience was horrible and - as a solo female traveller-  even a bit terrifying. I am a long-time traveller and I am used to staying in nice and clean, but also relaxed and happy places. I arrived at the hostel really tired and left my luggage in the room they assigned me. When I approached the owner to pay, he really violently told me he didn't like my attitude, which I didn't understand at all because although I was very tired, I am a very polite person. Then he told me I couldn't stay and literally kicked me out. I have never experienced that type of violence anywhere in the world. Although most reviews are great, beware because I am not the first person that is being kicked out from this hostel in such a rude manner and with no reason. I left confused and scared and took a cab to another hostel, and I shared what happened with the cab driver, who told me he lived nearby and that although he hasn't heard anything bad about that hostel, the owners do not interact much with locals, so locals find them a bit strange....
