We stayed at this hotel due to a convention we was attending. On first impressions was that the hotel was not in a pleasant area, however, we still ventured out and found some pleasant places to eat. Great place for steak and ribs out of hotel, turn right onto main road. The rooms were clean, very comfy beds, silent air conditioning, powerful showers, flat screen TV's loads of freeview TV channels, friendly helpful staff. I had a nice meal at hotel, although some of my friends didn't like their food much, I would recommend the hotel for an overnight stay or two if with a group of friends.

I was at the hotel for a weekend in Guayaquil. My first time out there. The staff is very helpful and ultra curtious. The hotel is located close to all the famous bars in Guayaquil. I would definitely go back!!!!!

Friendly

This hotel was close to the airport and recommended by a taxi driver who was anxious to go home after a long day.  We were first told that the rooms would be $40 per person but were offered a discount of $15 if paid in cash.  We needed a place to sleep for the night so accepted the offer.  The room itself was at the end of the hall with a very noisy air conditioner that you could not adjust the temperature, no shampoo/conditioner or toilet paper in the bathroom and  a TV that didn't work.  We had to ask for the toiletries and they apologized for the inconvenience however the the worst part was finding out the next morning from a different desk clerk that the rates were actually lower than what we were charged.  No refund was made as we didn't even get a receipt from the night before.  Needless to say I would not give this hotel high marks.  It was clean but noisy and the breakfast although included was plain not spectacular.

Not what I expected

When I arrived in Guayaquil, I went to the Hotel Corona Real where I held a reservation that I had made in the States two weeks prior.  Unfortunately I arrived to a hotel that was sold out, and they did not honor my reservation.  They sent me to a lower scale hotel for the evening, made me wait 20 minutes for a cab to take me to the other hotel, and to make matters worse, they checked in three people who arrived after I did.  I would be interested in knowing how they chose their "keepers" and why they decided some of us could not stay there.  I could never recommend this hotel based upon this one experience.

Very disappointed

I booked this hotel through Expedia well in advance of my trip to Guayaquil, Ecuador on the recommendation of someone who lives there.  After a long flight and problems with the rental car agency (Thrifty), I drove a rental car from the airport, no small feat, and when I arrived, I was told all thew rooms were booked and I would have to stay at their "sister hotel" at the same price (while I was standing there asking why they even took reservations, they checked someone in a taxi driver brought in).  They also wanted me to pay in advance for a sight unseen "sister hotel".  This hotel is already in a questionable part of town, so I decided not to take them up on their generous offer.  They assured me they would not charge my credit card, yet two days later, there it was.  I had to dispute the charges with my credit card company and deal with the hold on the card.  Even though I speak very good Spanish, I still look like a gringo, and apparently it's a scam on gringos they use to fill their other property.  I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!!!!
