42 reviewsWe decided to take a chance with reserving a local hotel instead of an international standard hotel and was more than pleased with the choice. Given the low price and non-recognizable name we had resolved ourselves to accept whatever we encountered, justified by the low price and the fact we were only staying one night. We very happily found the hotel room to be, at minimum, a 4 star standard! The rooms were very large and it was apparent that they had recently been refurbished and renovated. There were large windows providing lots of lights and it had all the amenities which were needed. Even local Chinese friends who came to join us in Kaiping at the Wilson Hotel noted that the hotel was well beyond their expectations. The hotel is situated on a quiet street in a busy and vibrant area with many restaurants and shopping (attached to a mall next door). The staff do not speak any English but tried their best to help us with questions and were friendly and accommodating. Our only regret is that we were in the Wilson Hotel for only one night as it would have been a very comfortable base to explore the neighbourhood and Kaiping area.
