Our family made it's 3rd trip from Iowa(US) to Quebec in early October, with this wonderful place being our final destination. We had visited in 2015 and 2018 when Claude was the Proprietor, and nothing can be said that hasn't already been said, numerous times in the many reviews below.
Turn the page to this trip, and we had the pleasure of meeting it's new owners, Jean-Patrick and Stephanie.  The place had enjoyed a few very tasteful updates, but it still maintained the charm.  As always, we had the top two floors and terrace to ourselves, and the location is a perfect hub to explore Old Quebec, the "real" Quebec, and all of the many sites in the near surroundings around the city.
We spent 5 nights, and two of them we shared a wine and beer night, and also a pizza night with the new owners. Claude even found time to stop by and make us breakfast one morning, and we spent the day with him on Ile d'Orleans.
The best compliment that can be made in a review like this one, is to simply say, we WILL be back again for 2024!

Our home away from home. Version 2.0

We and two other couples (friends) stayed here at the end of September. The property has wonderful old-world charm, clean, cozy and very comfortable. The owner, Claude, has done a fantastic job renovating and restoring this late 19th century building, with so many interesting architectural features and furnishings. If that were not enough, Claude is simply the most outstanding host, friendly and engaging from the time we arrived and throughout our stay. He cooked the most incredible breakfast for us daily, and was happy to offer recommendations about what to see, where to dine, etc. The location was also great, a quiet spot just a block away from the St Lawrence River (great views from the rooftop terrace, which also has a hot tub!) and just a few minutes walk to the old city.

The six of us are all over age 60, have traveled a lot, and can judge quality when we see it.  It's always enjoyable to be with friends, but we all agreed this was absolutely the best experience, and we want to return now! Claude, we miss you already, and thank you so much!

A Truly Wonderful Experience!

Located across from the St. Lawrence. Walking distance to old Quebec city's many historic sites, beautiful churches and an endless selection of great restaurants.
The owner Claude was charming and an amazing cook.  Every morning breakfast was not only delicious but perfectly presented. Great accommodations!   Three bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.  A fully equipped kitchen and  access to a barbecue on a roof patio. I can't wait to book this hidden gem again!

Perfect location

Beautiful, beautiful home. Excellent design  and wonderful comfort. I loved the location.  Up close views of St. Lawrence River from front windows and rooftop patio.   30 second walk to the riverfront trails.  5 minute walk to staircase with over 350 steps.  Perfect for fitness during your stay- ideal for anyone  who exercises daily.  Rooftop patio great for yoga. Old Quebec is a short walk.  Parking and bus-stop virtually in front of the house.  Spa Nordic is being built within a 5 minute walk!   Claude was an exceptional host who is a pleasure to speak with, and very helpful.  He designed and built the renovation of this place from head to toe with great care and attention to detail, preserving the history of the place while attending to all the modern comforts that we enjoy.   His handmade breakfasts were excellent.  With a full kitchen, generous dining area, wood burning fireplace, piano, laundry room, rooftop patio with hot-tub, and a washroom accompanying each bedroom, you can really settle in and feel at home here.  Perfect for families, groups, couples, and retreats- year round.   Highly recommended, we will definitely be back. 

Perfect home, perfect location

Our family of five (two adults, three children) LOVED our stay at Maison La Chapeliere in mid-December.  I read every single review before staying here and I can now speak from experience...this is the real deal.  The location was ideal for seeing the sites in Quebec City and parking was conveniently located.  We loved that we were able to spread out instead of being cramped in a hotel room and the laundry facilities were a HUGE perk.  Everything was very clean and well kept.  I would highly recommend this for families, but I wouldn't hesitate going back and staying with just my husband.  What sets this accommodation apart from other places I have stayed is Claude...and the amazing breakfasts.  Claude would come each morning to make us the most delicious crepes, egg benedict and french toast.  He even taught my daughters how to make crepes and hot chocolate...which they both loved and have talked about almost non-stop.  We have actually mentioned several times we should have extended our trip!  We didn't use the hot tub (it was December), but we did enjoy the Christmas tree set up in the dining area.  This is truly a gem in Quebec City and I am so glad we found it.

What You See Is What You Get

We stayed as a family for just two nights but were welcomed like old friends by Claude who was a most obliging host. Although we did not have the best weather for our visit, the house was warm, clean and comfortable and the breakfasts superb. A little further to walk in to town than we expected but was quite nice to be away from the cruise and coach ship dominated town. No hesitation in recommending - although be prepared to climb stairs! 

A warm and friendly welcome

Stayed here with my 3 adult children in late May/early June and have to say it was one of the nicest B&B experiences we've ever had. We rented the entire place so we had it all to ourselves.   Aside from the fantastic location which gives you walking access to Le Petit Champlain, Chateau Frontenac and Plains of Abraham, you will be greeted by the most wonderful hose, Claude.  

Claude will make you amazing breakfasts each morning so you will be amply fortified for your day of walking this lovely city.  As you do, you will forget you are still on the North American Continent as the beauty, history and charm of this place transports you to a small European city.

Maison was the perfect place to return to in the evenings with it's large kitchen and comfortable bedrooms.  Sitting with the open windows on the top floor made us feel as though we were in Paris.  Lovely!
