Hotel São Gotardo has an excelent infrastructure and is located in an extraordinary and beautiful site. It is rare to find such a hotel in the countryside with such views and confort. The views are astononishing and the area has many sites to visit. You can track inside the hotel or can adventure toward nearby Agulhas Negras, second Brazilian highest mountain and many towns and rural sites around. The hotel is recently owned and operated by a nice couple, Paula and Armando, and they will do everything to turn your stay agreeable. I would likely recomend to foreigners and nationals who love nature, tracking,running, cycling, birdwatching... and a quiet place to recover energy and try new experiences.To have a good stay do not forget to bring winter clothes. The weather can be cold even in summer time.

An excelent gateway to Itatiaia National Park and Mantiqueira mountain range

The São Gotardo Hotel is wonderful. Localized in the Mantiqueira mountains in Minas Gerais State very near the Agulhas Negras Peak. The climate is fantastic and the atmosfere of the hotel é splendid with an excellent restaurant and a cozy bar with special drinks, brazilian music and jazz. The hotel service and rooms are very good. I recommend this hotel for everyone who likes the nature, birds sounds and mountains !

Wonderful hotel in the mountains

It is certainly the best hotel in the Itatiaia region: wonderful service, wonderful restaurant with organic food, breathtaking sceneries, energy-saving measures and eco-friendly place, trekking trails inside the property, nice bar with nice jazz music, attention to details, real home away from home. Even during the summer, it never gets too hot because of the high altitude. You are 1750 m above sea-level. Bring your coats as in the night it may get very cold.

BEST HOTEL IN ITATIAIA REGION

Want to relax in a great Hotel? This may be one of your best options, located at a very reasonable driving distance from Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. Nature is present all around, rooms are comfortable (some have fireplaces) and the food is great. Usually rates include breakfast and dinner, as many guest spend the day walking in the surrounding mountains close to Agulhas Negras. Heated swimming pool invites for a night swim, togheter with a steam sauna. Bring your own wine or enjoy the good selection available at restaurant. A perfect place for couples or honeymooners. This Hotel is at 1600meters (close to 4500ft) of altitude, so you should expect colder nights, which actually adds to its charm. Although Wifi is available, signal oscilates at full occupation.

Amazing location, friendly staff and cozy ambience

In the middle of the Atlantic Forest, in the high mountains of Rio de Janeiro State, this hotel is very calm, well decorated and perfect for relaxing. They have a very good restaurant with a wine cellar, sauna, indoor pool and several resting areas. All rooms have a wonderful view of the mountain and the forest. The breakfast is good, with lots of fresh fruits. This hotel is a member of the "Chram Hotels" of the world.
