Pousada Arandela

Staff great, rooms comfortable and food good. Lovely location with a lake and small forest walk. Wildlife was limited but several toucans, hummingbirds, ducks and hummingbirds with a few butterflies and dragonflies which makes a wander around the garden even more interesting. There is a small swimming pool which was clean but it was too cold for us to use it on this visit. There are several different designs of rooms and suites. Mine had a huge bed and a fridge, the bathroom had a great shower with warm water and a window that was great for drying clothes by. This was the only one other window however which had shutters over it. This meant that the bedroom was quite dark. There was a half glazed window with a small curtain and above it an open void. In the day it was great to have the shutters open and let light and air in but at night it would have been too cold so the shutters were closed. It meant you missed out on waking up to such a great view and the sounds of the birds singing to wake you up gently. Also the lights in the room were not bright enough to read by. The small veranda outside the room has a canopy which you can shelter under. A table and some chairs would have been nice for during the day. The walls between the rooms are quite thin but as the conference delegates were the only people here we were going to bed abs getting up around the same time.
