On Fernando de Noronha the prices for accomodation are high in comparison to most of the rest of the country. Thus for a price of a 4-star hotel, lets say in Recife, one gets here a very simple guesthouse.

The Pousada Gaucha with just five rooms is a family run place on a dirt road in the Vila do Trinta quarter of the island, not far from a supermarket. To go to the Praça Flamboyant it is about 500m and to the Bar Cachorro, my favorite dinner place adjacent to the beach of the same name it is 1km, thus all in walking distance.

Concerning the airport transfer I called the Pousada one day before and was informed that there is a free shuttle bus 'Na Onda', which passes by several accomodations. On the way back to the airport I had to take a taxi (30 BRL).

There is no English spoken at the Pousada. The man at the reception was friendly and I could pay by credit card. During my stay though I hardly ever saw anybody from the Pousada.

The room was clean, but pretty small. It had two beds, some drawers, a fridge (with free water bottles) and a TV. There was just one light, in the ceiling with one switch by the door, and only one plug socket, inconveniently located high up. View from the room was towards the garden and it was quiet at night. 

A/C worked well, but not the WiFi. I could sometimes receive mails, but was never able to send one. The bathroom was okay, but there were no free toiletries, just a bar of soap. The room was not serviced during my stay.

The best about the accomodation is the breakfast with a good choice of fresh fruit and a lady passing by, asking if anybody wanted eggs any style or tapioca.

a basic place in Vila do Trinta

I stayed in this Pousada for 4 nights at the end of May in 2015.  The Pousada was on the budget end of the Pousadas I was looking for but it more than what I bargained for in the positive way.  The rooms are comfortable and that is important and the breakfast is very good with eggs and all kinds of fruits.  But what was really important was the attention of the staff.  I got sick during the middle of my stay there and the Staff was constantly making sure I was ok with teas and so forth.  Thank you very much! MUITO OBRIAGDO! Marc dos EUA

Marvelous Quaint Pousada/Muy bien/Uma Maravilha

The cleanliness is the main point of the simple Pousada, the air conditioner works well and you have a small refrigerator inside your bedroom, the breakfast is nice for the resourses and food available in the island. It is simple but recommended! It is located in a ground street with some dusty in the street. I would stay again if necessary.

Near the main markets in the Island

A small b&b about 15 mins walk to the Praia Conceiciao, which is a surfers' paradise. Functional rooms, and nice breakfast, Staff are very friendly and attentive. Prices are not too bad for the island, where tourists have to pay a ridiculously high premium on everything, no matter how poor the quality.
