Although I agree that this gem could use some putty and  a fresh coat of paint I dont agree with ppl feeling unsafe.
I and my 80 yr old mum stayed for a few weeks.
The staff American  Mitch and Adelma etc. Are very kind helpful and understanding.
The best motel staff I have ever had.
They even went out and bought a birthday cake for me.
Helped arrange some tours to a hidden ruin off the tourist map.
Adelma even cooked a delicacy for us of "conch""  and plantain.for nothing.Not a dime.

Regardless of what many say It is in a safe area.
I walked around at midnight without any problem.
Being right on the water You have a great view and cooling breeze. NO need for air conditioning for many.
Yes It is not the Sheraton but without a doubt I would go back.
There is a locked gate at the front and at least one staff member 24 hours  a day. 
If I felt good with my elderly mum with me You should have no worries..Plus the price is right  This place gave us both some happy unforgettable experiences

Friendly Compassionate

Good place to stop if your going on a cruise.
Be careful with going on adventures within Belize City. Only the mainstream areas are safe. 
Management is friendly and helpful in getting you to your final destination

Time in the Sun

We booked this simply because we wanted to book something for one evening before we went on to the islands.

So dirty and dark and hot and I'm pretty sure my sheets weren't washed and got bitten my bugs. 

The lady who checked us in was pretty cool but the whole place didn't have a nice vibe and was way overpriced too.  Avoid - just go straight to the islands and stay there if you can

This place is infested with disgusting bed bugs and the owners know it but do not care. It is old filthy house and by no means an acceptable form of paid accommodation. DO NOT stay here even as a last resort - you will regret it.

BED BUGS

Unless you want an infestation of bed bugs biting you at night and coming home in your luggage, please save yourself and go somewhere else. We found bed bugs in the mattress in room 5. When we told the owner. Her answer was, "yes I know, that's why we put another mattress on top of it." For everyone reading this, that WILL NOT stop bed bugs!  Instead of shutting down the guest house and fixing the problem, this owner feels that infecting you with bed bugs is just a price you should pay so she can keep making money. When I asked for a refund since we spent the night shivering on the balcony, she would only give me 50% off. Well I hope people read this and send her a message by not booking this place. She needs to fix the bed bug infestation immediately. Until then, she shouldn't be taking guests. Other, less horrifying issues, include the filthy condition of the place. There was an old stained mattress blocking most of the hallway, there were used q-tips on the floor of our room, and dirty towels were everywhere. That's funny since we weren't given a single towel. For whatever reason, the owner either doesn't care anymore, or is too busy, or doesn't have the help necessary to keep this place clean and free of bed bugs. If you stay here, enjoy spending the next year trying to get rid of the bed bugs you bring back with you in your luggage!

BED BUGS EVERYWHERE

This was the first place I visited in Belize, I arrived very early off a bus from Cancun and didn't feel very safe when I arrived. I wish I had taken a photo as the photos on here make it seem clean and like it has been freshly painted. The floors and walls are wooden but the felt dirty, the bathroom was mouldy and the sheets were stained. I didn't trust leaving anything unlocked, padlocking my bag to the bed, not that I trust that to be a solid foundation. The staff pressured me into eating with them but I would have rathered not to. The holes in the walls made it feel like I wasn't even in my own room. When another traveller turned up I felt much safer than alone with the strange people who owned/ran the place. Not that I could ever tell who was in charge. I 100% would not recommend this place, it is just not the kind of place you want to go to.
