Apartment Hotel Am Laaerberg

The hotel apartment was pretty much what I expected from the photos I saw and the reviews I read beforehand. It was reasonably priced and just a short walk to the Reumannplatz train station on the U1 line. The manager was very pleasant and I soon felt at home. As a self-catering apartment it was useful to know that there is a Lidl supermarket about 10 minutes walk away. Travelling on a budget, I was able to buy everything I needed from there and cook my own meals. The cleaner didn't seem to speak any English, but was good at her job and kept my room very clean and my bed sheets and towels were replaced regularly. I was able to do most of the things I had planned to do in the city, including visiting the Hofburg, Belvedere and Schonnburg palaces/gardens, St Stephen's Cathedral, the Kaisergruft, and I also went on a day trip to Bratislava on the city shuttle train which only took an hour and was easy to pick up from the Hauptbanhof station two stops away. If only our trains in the UK ran as well as they do in Vienna! The wifi internet connection worked well and helped me a great deal to plan my day and make the most of my stay. I had initially booked up to stay at another hotel but was glad I cancelled it and chose this one instead.
