Hostería Carlos Alvear

Well, San Salvador de Jujuy is not a very likeable place for travellers, so you hardly see lots of tourists and most shops, restaurants and hotels cater for locals or business travellers. So I found this place which was pretty down to earth. Nothing special about it, but it was the cheapest place I stayed in 4 weeks in Argentina, so quite a relief for my budget. There are rooms with shared bathrooms, the service is not overly friendly, but they help if you ask - as it is common with residenciales in Argentina. Breakfast was much better than in hostals: I had three pieces of pastry and a real cappuccino (in contrast to the overheated Nescafe stuff in other places). The room itself was dark and clean enough, as were the bathrooms. I just needed a place to sleep.
