 Nice old building in the old city, Alexi the innkeeper was very helpful and nice. There was just TOO MUCH NOISE! All night from inside and outside, from people, dogs, motorcycles. If you want any rest stay somewhere else.

Just too NOISY

We stayed there for 2 nights in a private double room. The room was very spacious with high ceiling and very comfy bed. The house in general is so lovely as it is an old house with high ceilings, i love it. 
The bathrooms are very clean and it has a rooftop terrace where you can enjoy the breakfast (which is not included) or a drink in the evening. 

The only remark: they charge 8 US$ for the breakfast which is way to much for what you get: simple baked bread, coffee, jam, goat cheese and joghurt. I would expect at least fresh fruits and eggs for this price. But you don't have to take it and can make your own breakfast.

The owners are very nice, Sebastian gave us a lift to the terminal to catch our bus, thanks a lot.

Try the restaurant "La Fonda" next to the hostel, it's simply fantastic and delicious.

Wonderful house

The hostel itself is in a beautiful building and definitely has charm. The rooms are big and the kitchen is clean and organised. However the Ciudad Vieja area definitely does not feel safe. We were approached by beggars as soon as we got out the taxi and there were at least 15 homeless people sitting on the street of the hostel. Maybe it was due to it being a weekend but almost everything was closed down and the old town felt very deserted. My boyfriend and I did not feel comfortable leaving the hostel even early evening as we had read about lots of daylight muggings. Maybe it was just us being paranoid but we spent the rest of our stay in the Pocitos area and felt much happier about this. 

Nice hostel but area unsafe

The hostel is kind of cute, unfortunately we chose the cheaper rooms downstairs with no windows, very dark and not very inviting. The breakfast was one of the best in all the hostels we stayed at. Staff was discreet but friendly. Bathrooms are a bit old. The location is quite good, close to the market.

A fine place to stay

The posada al Sur  was just magnificent. The  rooms were spacious and cleans. The breakfast at the hostel was a unique experience. 
The staff so excellent, very polite and very helpful with everything. They can also give you tips on what to do or where to go by night. I would definitely recommended!!!
