We stayed in unit 2 of this place.  Here’s just a few issues.  Terrible location.  You have to cross the busy highway in order to get to the beach.  The room is cramped and uncomfortable.  Highway noise at all times.  Bed is shoved against the wall so access from one side only.  No real bathroom.  Tiny closet for toilet and shower.  Vanity for brushing your teeth is in the kitchen.  There is not a single towel bar in the whole place so you just wad up your wet towels and try to find a place for them.  Kitchen outlet for the coffee maker is dead so you have to put the machine on the floor in the little seating area.  No coffee is provided so bring your own if you stay here.  Ice maker is broken so bring your own ice too.  There is an outdoor seating area with picnic table and chairs but it is uninviting and not maintained.  And this place is not chef.  We paid $495 for three nights.  Worst choice eve.  NOT stay here!

No!  No!  No!

This motel hasn't been reviewed here for a while -- I don't know if it's changed owners or different management, but we booked our room here through VRBO.  There are no managers on the premises.  There were pros and cons with this place:
PROS:  It is just a couple of blocks from a very nice long beach which is great for strolling.  It was very reasonably priced, even with the extra fees and cleaning charges that VRBO adds on.  The kitchen was very well stocked with dishes and it had a full sized fridge, so if you wanted to cook for yourself, you would be in good shape.  There were plenty of towels.  There were 3 of us and one slept on the futon so we each had our own bed.
CONS:  The room was very small, with not much room to navigate around the beds.  The TV didn't have any service, though possibly we could have connected it to the internet for streaming, but we didn't try that.  Maybe if you had your own cords you could hook it up to your laptop or something.  There was evidence that they are working on some of the units.  Ours had broken blinds and no privacy curtains so anyone in the parking lot could see inside the unit.  We got there just after check-in, so we were able to see that, though there were sheets for the futon, there were no blankets or extra bedding, so we called the management office and they said they could send someone because it was during work hours.  But if we had arrived late, we likely wouldn't have gotten any service.  Our biggest problem with the unit was the animal hair all over the floor.  One of the beds had animal hair on the sheets and bedding and even paw prints on the duvet cover.  We had the guy change the sheets when he brought the bedding.  But we still ended up with dog hair all over our clothing during the stay.  The place is a little too dog-friendly.  But with a little more effort in the cleaning and fixing up a few things, this would be a fine place to stay in Rockaway Beach.  We got some Indian food from the food truck next door, "Taste of India" and it was quite good.

Needs some work and better cleaning

This is a great place to stay! When we drove up I was a bit concerned about the exterior of the place (It looked a lot older than their website photos showed), but the inside was clean, comfortable, and recently updated.  I loved the well stocked kitchenette and found everything I needed to prepare our seafood feast.

Great Stay!

Sweet classic motel right off Scenic Hwy 101 with super clean rooms and friendly owner. The motel had cute fresh greenery & floral arrangements outside each door which gave it a cheerful & welcoming holiday feel. Spotless room with all you could need in kitchen, with coffee, tea, snacks provided. Plenty of good-smelling towels and a our particular room had a bathtub, which was SO nice for a soak after chilly day. A+++ place!

Would plan to stay longer next time. Loved the full on kitchen and all the utensils available.

Originally we chose Sea Haven because they allowed pets.  Five year later, even without our beloved pet, we chose to go back on our trip celebrating our anniversary. We appreciated the very efficient use of space of our room, all at a good price.  If you plan to do some cooking, heating of food, or just want a full size refrigerator, stove and microwave with pots, pans, dishes and glasses, you couldn't ask for a better set up, all very clean.  The kitchen and counter top island layout made for a practical use of space. If you plan to cook crabs or do outdoor grilling, there is a  picnic area with a table, boiling pot and a barbecue.  

The interior was pleasantly decorated in a seaside motif. The futon couch was great to sit and watch the World Series on the television.  There was also a small tv in the bedroom with a comfortable bed. There's not a lot of floor space in the bedroom of our unit, but we took one of the stools from the storage above the bedroom and it was a perfect night table.  The owners are very generous in the availability of towels (with a hamper in the bathroom!)

Maureen, one of the owners, was there to make sure we were all set for the night.  She greeted us warmly as you would old friends and even had fresh flowers and a congratulations  sign for our 30th anniversary celebration!  She was very helpful in recommending some of the attractions in the area.  We highly recommend the Sea Haven Motel for a great place to stay in Rockaway Beach.

Comfortable, Practicable and Friendly

Looking for a place to spend the night on a very stormy night, and I was a bit dismayed to only be able to find a “motel.” Quite the surprise as our unit was delightful with a good suite floor plan, nice furnishings, and very, good appointments. Very pleased.

Good surprise

This little gem was very nice and it was priced right. It looked a little old but the room was very nice with a full kitchen.  The bed was comfortable  and I would stay here again. If you are looking for a family place to stay this is it.

One night stay

Don’t let the outside and location stop you from booking this place.  It is right off 101 and the outside worried me a bit (Website pictures of exterior are quite outdated showing a much newer exterior) but interior is comfortable, clean and recently updated.  We loved having a kitchenette.  It was great for preparing our fresh seafood dinner.      In addition to a well stocked kitchen, there was a toaster, coffee pot with coffee, creamers, snacks, and tea provided.  Bed was comfortable as well.  Thanks for a relaxing stay!

For the Price = 4 Star

Just like somebody else reviewed this place is very Charming. Definitely worth staying here again
