we paid in full for 8 nights at Kealia in 2019 - due to the pandemic our Holidays were rescheduled several times until end o of oct 2022-
Our selected condo was changed to another by the management, citing the unit was sold - we were charge an extra 440$ for another unit. 
when we arrived late at night or AM ( 2 AM Maui time) due to flight delayed in LAX, we drove to Kealia, opened the unit door. We were welcome to a MUSTY, HOT smell of the unit, like it was not cleaned or treated before our arrival! We opened all windows, doors, ceiling on, and it's still HOT and so NOISY even at Night , KEALIA resort is located next the a main highway North Kihei HWY. Needless to say, No sleep.
Next morning, the shower-head was broken, the Lanai chair-seats were broken ( could not even sit on), the living light was broken, the tiny air-conditioner in the living room was partially cool, we had to open the main door with screen door to let air in , including the highway traffic noise. The coffee maker does not work-
All had to be replaced by the management when we called the next day !

Feature of Kihei , it's situated between 2 mountains, the hot intense trade winds would blow daily from late morning until late afternoon from East to West, blowing hot air through Kihei and through the units. So it's HOT, VERY WINDY.
bottom line: Kealia is poorly located in a valley with HOT, WINDS, the units are poorly kept, IT's not worth your time or money!

Don't go there!

This condo was very clean and had a great ocean view, 
The property had a pristine pool and was just steps away from the ocean. 
We walked the shoreline every morning…we could not ask for anything more.

Nice location

My 3rd time staying here, it's a hidden gem. Price is more reasonable than next door at Sugar Beach Resort. Less condos so it's quiet, the grounds are nicely kept, and it's a :30 walk from any unit pretty much to the beach or pool. Parking is easy and accessible. Our units have all been comfortable and nicely furnished. The office staff is friendly and easy to communicate with regarding reservations or if there's anything you need in the unit. I love the big grassy area that's shaded right next to the building, my daughter loves just running around there. There's also a big stack of books on top of the mailboxes that you can take or donate to, so if you run out of reading material, just go there.

Quiet little gem

Unit 407, we booked this condo because of the good reviews and we love walking along Sugar Beach. The proximity to the beach and the grassy, shaded, side yard were great. Kealia Resort is 46 years old and shows it's age. Unit 407 has old appliances and furniture, thread bare linens, a very small shower toilet room (you need to stand in the shower to close the bathroom door) and was in need of a thorough cleaning. The worst part was the traffic noise from N. Kihei Rd. We had to keep the doors and windows closed to sleep. If you want to stay at this resort, unit numbers ending in 1 to 4 face the ocean and would be much quieter. The one plus was a comfortable king sized bed.

Certainly not "charming"

The location and the beach is great but everything else was a complete disappointment. they have everything locked down with no amenities available like the BBQ grills, board rack and they even have all the loungers locked up at the pool. It seems like everyone at the place is walking around on pins and needles waiting for the property manager to pounce. signs up everywhere telling what you can not do. i would not recommend this place, i wish i would have stayed in a tent on the beach.

i have not been so disappointed in my life

Great location at the end of the beach. Seems to sit in a wind tunnel that runs down the valley.. very windy.... each unit was very different. We were in 203 and I would not recommend it... dirty and not well appointed. Had family stay in 3 other suites and they were a bit better. I think they are over priced for what you get.

Condo

We had a condo unit on the third floor with excellent views of the beach and western Maui. The condo was of good size with a separate bedroom with very comfortable bed and storage. Showing its age a bit but still very pleasant. Nice balcony to enjoy while eating or just hanging out and with the beautiful views. The kitchen was well stocked and ha everything needed. Small living room with a couch was great to relax in. Bathroom was great with a nice large shower. Overall the apartment was a great place to stay and central for travel to all parts of Maui. Only 10 minutes from airport. For restaurants and grocery we went to Kihei area which is about a 10 minute drive. Great variety. The beach was beautiful and great for swimming, as it is not too deep or shallow. Can walk for about 1 km one direction and about 5 km in the other. Nice hard sand so very easy to walk in the mornings and evenings. The sunsets were stunning. There is a small pool and grass in the front of the property. Plenty of loungers to relax on and suntan, or watch the sunsets. Very well maintained property and clean. 

Great location on beautiful beach

In line to get in the plane but already wishing I was back at unit #309. Such a cozy and newly remodeled studio perfect for my solo vacation. It had everything I needed and the view from the lanai had a bit of green and a bit of ocean and it was beautiful!!! Sherry,  the manager was so helpful. When my coffee machine stopped working, I went on a walk and swim and was surprised to find a brand new one when I got back. The road was a bit noisy, but the sounds of the ocean helped with that and,  with the door closed it was fine. ABC store, cute Farmer's Market and an amazing bakery are walking distance. A busy Shaved Ice too and an adorable gift shop. I did not rent a car, so I walked up and down all those beaches and Kealia is by far the least crowded and nicest resort. There is a green area next to it that is so relaxing and beautiful.  My lanai had a view of that and the beach,  so I had the best of both. Sounds of birds, ocean, view of canoes leaving and returning every morning, nice folks. It was truly paradise. Bus line 10 and 15 stops nearby and takes you to center of Kihei, if you choose not to rent a car like I did. Uber and Lift from and to OGG were $26 each. I found out on my way home from my Uber driver that I could have ridden a bike to Target in Kahului safely on a nice bike lane from Kealia, so doing that next time. Also regret not going on canoe rides with locals, right next door to Kealia, for a donation. Next time for sure!!!

At OGG and already missing it!

I stayed in condo 601, it was so awesome !  Could hear the ocean every night… Views were amazing..beach just steps away. The grounds are clean, freshwater pool was beautiful and sparkling... A beautiful 2 1/2 mile walk on the beach to Maalaea Bay or go the other way a short walk and you have a farmers market, ABC store and Ululani’s Shaved ice and  Huli Huli chicken and ribs every Wednesday and Saturday... I added some pictures so you could get the idea 😊

Great place to stay !!!

Overall, we had a pleasant stay at Kealia. The beach is great and is a lovely place to go for a very long walk (or not). The kitchen was well stocked with appliances, cutlery, and cooking utensils. Beach supplies were also available. A previous reviewer mentioned leaving a boogie board, but we didn't find one. The bed was also very comfortable. Our only issue was how hot the condo got in the afternoon. It was impossible to sit on the deck because of the glaring sun. Inside the condo, it was even hotter. We kept the blinds closed to try and keep the unit cool, but that didn't work very well. We finally gave in and turned on the aircon. The aircon is rather old and very noisy. As a last resort, we opened the condo door and the patio doors to try and get some air circulation (although, there is a notice to not to do that. We had no choice if wanted some air.). Thankfully, it cools down in the evening making it possible to sleep. 

There's not a lot of dining or shopping options within walking distance. You will definitely need a car. 

Overall, we had a nice stay.
